"Before you go, I'll need some measurements." Milo brings over a stepladder and a measuring tape. He makes notes of all the necessary stats for Baine's torso. "Perfect. Right, I'll let you get on then. Pleasure doing business with you."
He turns back to Markas. "Right then, I'd better get started on this sword of yours!" He moves off to begin the process of forging the falchion.

Markas gives Bain a fist bump as he leaves and settles in to watch Milo at work (If popcorn were a thing in Kantas, he would absolutely be breaking it out right now)

Markas gives Bain a fist bump as he leaves and settles in to watch Milo at work (If popcorn were a thing in Kantas, he would absolutely be breaking it out right now) [I think considering when you first posted here in real life, we can skip to the completed work. I've found a video of a guy forging a more classically shaped falchion, albeit with modern machinery, but you might get an idea for what Markas would have watched over the course of 3 days, if he managed to stick it out.]
After one final polish, Milo gives the sword a few basic swishes through the air, sights along its length, and says "Okay. All done." He holds up a ragged sheet of dirty scrap leather, about two feet square, and holds it out by two corners, pulling the top edge taut. "Give it a go."

A large figure approaches you see a large red Tiefling with shaved horns; He calls out Master Milo are you here? " a bit louder than needed but with urgency "

Markas has been camped out in the workshop for a few days now and has a layer of soot built up on him, but his mild interest and intrigue has very visibly grown into excitement as he has watched the sword take shape.
Taking the sword, he gives it a couple of test swings himself, feeling the weight and balance before turning back to Milo holding the leather
"Ok"
He takes his stance and with a quick flourish and flick, steps forward and effortlessly cuts the leather in two. A big childish grin forms as Markas looks to Milo again
"Its perfect! Better than I could've hoped for..." he takes a second to admire the handiwork and engravings "you've made a beautiful weapon Milo. I'm glad I made the effort to seek you out"
He then proceeds to pay Milo 30gold
"I know we agreed 25, but I wouldn't feel right paying any less for this!
He puts the sword away and extends his hand to shake his hand again
"Thank you Milo. I have a few more ideas for the future as well I think you can help me with. When I come to needing them, I will definitely be back"

"Any time my friend. I look forward to seeing what designs you come up with."
After Markas has left, Milo realises he never asked what the letters he engraved into the sword actually meant, he'd been so caught up in the actual process of creation. Ah well, he was sure he'd see Markas soon enough. He could ask then.
A few days later, Milo is working on a large sheet of metal, which he is shaping with a large ball hammer. Behind the banging he hears:
A large figure approaches you see a large red Tiefling with shaved horns; He calls out Master Milo are you here? " a bit louder than needed but with urgency "
"Ah? Yes, I'm here! Come in, come in. Can I help?"

Two expensively dressed figures stroll past the Hammerfall Smithy: a young human man, Heret Velnnarul, and a somewhat older halfling woman, Lasira Gemfinder.
'Now, this is a curious place,' says Heret to Lasira, speaking Thorass. 'The blacksmith's? Why?' 'Yes, it seems unremarkable, no? I've inspected the work and it is not as good as Samed's, nor as fast. The prices are similar.' 'So?' 'I keep seeing people come and go here who are not from Daring Heights. Some of them I know live in Port Ffirst, where there is a perfectly competent blacksmith - not quite as good, perhaps, but quite good enough for most of these backwater folk. And if their desire for quality is enough for them to make two days' journey to Daring Heights and back to place their order, and another two days to collect it, why not go to Samed's? There must be something... special about this place.'
Lasira casts a searching glance back at the building, now disappearing out of sight as the two business partners walk on. 'Interesting. You think it's something more than a smithy?' 'Perhaps. Or maybe there's something about the work, or the smith himself, that I've overlooked.' 'Hmm. Well, maybe we should delay making any overtures to Samed until we've found out more about this fellow. We don't want to back the wrong horse.'
They walk on.

Thanks to Rama's too-loud conversation, overheard by most in the immediate area, a well-dressed dragonborn approaches the Smithy. "Apologies for the intrusion, but I wish to offer the assistance of my lord Nemmonis. Having recently taken residence in a vineyard south of here, he has a particular care for his kin by kind as he likes to call us. Please do send your new friend our way and we shall take good care of him."

Milo is little bewildered at the turn of events taking place in front of him. A large, strange tiefling asking loudly for Milo to take in an equally unknown dragonborn, and then another dragonborn appearing to offer said sanctuary, and the tiefling agreeing, all before Milo can even begin to form a response.
After the tiefling has walked away, Milo slowly raises his hand and gives it a little wave. "Goodbye then..."
And returns to work.

A large red figure approaches: Master Milo are you here? "You can hear something racketing in a cage and being feisty" (You see a Dust Mephit hitting on the bars of a cage with sad but mean look on its face).

Baine all but falls into the smithy. "I'm gonna be late, I'm so late, shit, shit, shit, late, late, MILO! Is it done?? Markas convinced me to go to they Feywild again but hell if I'm going without my breastplate, is it done?"
"Ha! This must be divine fortune! One second..."
The young dwarf Baine had pushed past in his hurry to get into the smithy was barely half way down the street when Milo poked his head out the door and shouted after him.
"Iri! Don't bother with that message, lad, he's just come in!"
The boy shouts back down the street "What about Da's axe? It still needs fixing!"
"It's next on my list! You'll just have to owe me another favour!"
Before Iri can make a retort Milo returns to the warm room where Baine is waiting.
"Now then. I'm a little worried about this breastplate. Not the quality! I put my sweat and blood into this, and its the most detailed work I've ever made. It's just not my usual style... I hope you like it."
Milo walks across the floor of the smithy to a sheet drapped over an ambiguous shape. Pausing and letting out a breath, Milo pulls the sheet away, before turning and apprehensively raising an eyebrow, waiting for Baine's response.
The breastplate is made of shining steel, the light from the small window and open door reflecting off anatomically correct, if exagerated, muscles. On each of the six abdominals is embossed gilt lettering making the words BRAVE; STRONG; TOUGH; HERO; BOLD; and of course DARING. Down the eight obliques are picked out the longer words COURAGE; ADVENTURE; FEARLESS; VALIANT; RESOLUTE; WARRIOR; PROTECT; and STALWART. The pectorals and lower stomach are decorated in gold with curling leafy and flowering plants, and around the neck is ringed a decoration of gold wolves' teeth. Attached to the base of the armour, and falling to approximately just above the knee, are strips of black leather, studded and tipped with steel.
I can't figure out uploading pictures for the life of me, so I will send the image by Discord. If you know how to upload pictures here successfully then please do, and teach me your ways.
