Hi Mama,
I was going to send a letter to Daddy today, butI couldn't do it. A lot's happened today, and I don't want him to worry. I don't want you to worry either, but I think he would worry more.
I made some friends today, and met all sorts of interesting people. There's Sheryl, she's a halfling and plays the harp real nice, I think you'd like her a whole lot! A Lizard Person too, and a Water Genasi who could turn herself into a wolf and a bear (I'm meeting all sorts of new people here in Kantas, everyone's so different from people in Waterdeep). There's also a wizard and a ranger, they seem nice too.Mostly everyone seemed nice, except that the Lizard Person Caex was real set on killing people. I did my best to stop him, you know I tried, but
Everyone's nice here in Kantas, I'm meeting some good people here.
We got together to help some farmers just out of town. They were very good people too, if you ever come visit me here in Kantas I think I'll take you to meet them, we can bring them some gifts from the temple. I tried to help cook dinner but you know what I'm like in a kitchen, all thumbs and being big and all, I should've just gotten out of the way probably.
Miles, he's one of the family living there, he's studying to be a priest of Yandala, and we talked for a long time about all the good you can do in the world doing what we do. And then they've got someone working there, Cae, they're from Amvaile! It was real nice to talk to someone from so close to home, they're the first person I've met who's from around Waterdeep! I've missed home a lot, and I hope everything's okay back there.
The farmers were being attacked by goblins when we got there, so we helped them out with that first. I tried to give one of them the opportunity to just run away and not get hurt, but that didn't work out so well. I was thinking I could burn the bodies, not let them become undead you know, but it was too wet from the rain and I thought best to bury them instead. I just didn't feel right leaving their bodies out there in the rain like that. They couldn't get the burial maybe they would've gotten back home with their families but at least they'll go back to the earth now and something good will come from them dying. I hope the soil does alright from them.
You're probably wondering why I'm so worried about dad reading this is everything sounds alright and all but, I'm not sure it's alright mama. This human girl Emily, she chained herself to the barn cause she's a werewolf, and I tried to get her brother out of there but he just wouldn't go. We didn't get out in time,I was trying to protect her brother and she bit me right on my neck where the Gnoll got me before, maybe I need some armor for my neck or something We made sure not to kill her, Sheryl was amazing and just knocked that poor girl out so she's alright. I got hurt in the fight I hope I'll be okay I'll be alright though mama, curses can be broken if you know where to go.
Sheryl said she'd help me out, we're gonna take Emily with us and find someone at one of the temples round here to break the curse. I'll be alright mama.I'm scared about what'll happen if we don't break it in time but I know Lathander's watching over me. We'll take care of it, but don't worry daddy alright?
We're heading off in the morning, and I hope Sheryl'll play some pretty music on the trip too.
Love you, and everyone back home too.
Your little Giant,
Leek

Leek finished up her letter, biting her lip and frowning down at the page. Writing it had been difficult, and she didn't like the scratches cutting violently through the words she didn't like or want to say. This would worry them. She looked around the living room of the farmhouse, at her companions sleeping off their injuries and the wet chill of the rain. Caex curled up by the fireplace, Jay, Sheryl, Hakim and Eilrieth doing their best to fit into the limited space available to them in the night.
Her neck and shoulder hurt, she could feel it throbbing. She could hear her own pulse in her ears, and the wound complained.
No, She and Sheryl would fix this in the morning. There was no point in worrying anyone about anything. Lathander would stay with her, like he always had. Leek folded up the letter and tossed it into the fireplace, before settling back down into an uncomfortable sleep.
