Dear Mama,
I'm settling down alright in Kantas. I'm still in Port Ffirst staying at the Cavernous Seashank, though if I do a bit of moving around I hear from a friend I made (the Tiefling I told you about in my last letter, Arkadius), that it shouldn't be hard to get my mail to me. I wouldn't want anything from you to get lost in the post! I hope everythings alright back home. I hope the twins ain't missing me too much, and the dogs too! Tell them all that I love them, and daddy too.
I just got back into my room after another adventure I think you should tell the twins all about at bedtime. I was sitting around the tavern when I saw one of the friends I'd made the last time, the Detective! Levion's his name, and he's real smart. I went over to talk to say hi and mama you would not guess what happened next! First this real nice Half-Orc named Gegron came by, I think you and daddy would like him a lot, and then another Goliath! He just wanted to have a sit with us! It was real nice to be able to not have to hunch over to talk to someone, though you know I don't mind it at all mama. Then we made some more friends, a bard (Osboryn's his name I think, he's gonna have a concert here at the Seashank later this week and I'm real excited for him!), and a two humans too. That's Levion, Gegron, Da'ad (the Goliath I mentioned), Osboryn, Bolin and Ren.
Now the bunch of us are sitting around talking and making friendly (turns out that Gegron and Bolin also know Levion. it's a real small world over here in Kantas, everyone seems to know everyone!) and the owner of the establishment, he came right over to us and asked us if we could do a job for his friend! Course I said yes, and all my new friends said yes too, so we went over to ask what all that was about. Turns out that the blacksmith Kerna and her wife were looking for some rare material that could only be found on an island and needed some folks to go get it. Now we all kinda went our separate ways until the morning (though of course I helped where I could, you see Bolin wanted to just sleep on the ground outside cause he was drunk so I helped him up and paid for his room for the night), and when we got on the boat the captain asked me to help steer! Me, mama, steering a boat! I think I did alright, or I hope I did. Maybe I should go back and see if I can help with any damages I might have caused...
We spent the night on the boat and we sat around drinkin with the captain, and Osboryn played us some nice music. It was real beautiful out on the sea mama, even when it was so dark I couldn't see that far out in front of my face. I got to watch the sun come up though and I swear, I hadn't really felt Lathander's presence yet in this place but watching that sun come up was something else. I loved it, every second of it.
Course the moment we got to the island the sun was blocked out by a storm, and the whole island was wet and slippery. I had to swim to shore in all my chainmail, but once we was there we climbed and climbed until we--mama we found--It wasn't a dragon but it kinda looked like a dragon. Like one of those small ones from one of Jumper's books. Like a wyrm or a baby wyrm or something, and there was two of them! Now I kept everyone safe don't you worry, which was real useful and all cause Ren, Osboryn and Gegron had gotten exhausted trying to swim through the cold water. I gave Gegron my blanket to keep warm (I should get a new blanket, I know you'd tell me to get a new blanket and make sure I've got one), and shone a lil bit of Lathander's light for the three of them so they could be a little bit more lucky and such, guiding them you know, all that clarity Dawnbringer Deenah taught us about.
Oh! Mama! My new friend Gegron, he had this magic shield he put up (I think he might be a paladin but I'm not sure that's the kind of thing you ask if they're not from your faith? Not sure if that's polite) and it said Be Nice on it and I thought of everyone back home and it was so nice to see someone concerned about treating people well all the way here in the wilds.
We killed the whatever they were because we had to, or they were gonna kill us, but of course I gave a little prayer of apology for taking a life as I always do, because I know how important that is mama. Anyways we got lots of the metal for Kerna and we brought it back to her and got paid so much gold I don't know what to do with it. If I was back home I'd just put most of it in the tin so we could have a good Rhyestertide but now I don't know. I might get some nice armor or something...what do you think?
It's getting late here and I should get some shut eye if I want to be up for the dawn tomorrow. I'm gonna get this letter sent to you right away and I hope you don't get em all at once.
I love you Mama, and I miss you,
Leek

Leek read her letter over once, then twice, before smiling and folding it up. Upon the top she wrote the address, and slipped it onto her nightstand, underneath her Focus, for safe keeping. Her clothes would still likely be wet in the morning, though they sat to dry beside her chainmail where she knew the sun would hit it best upon the rising. The room she had rented was good. Standard, she thought, for a tavern room, and larger than her room back home (though lacking in the decorative flair). She shifted in her human sized bed, and thanked the Morninglord for his light as she blew out her candle for the night.
