A notice outside the Town Hall, proclaimed around the city but written down here:
"The Council of Daring Heights was formed in a turbulent time when leadership was needed swiftly. Now that the town has re-established itself, this council seeks the approval of the populace. This is not a standard practice from our respective homelands, but we are all generally far from home, and if we are to continue to grow and flourish together we would like to see the town support our decisions, which will in turn drive our authority to make change on your behalf.
As you know, there are 9 seats on the council, and we do intend to keep this format: 3 for the nobles and merchants of the city - the wealth that brought us all here; 3 for the citizenry and local businesses - the core of this town that allows us to exist; and 3 for the wardens - the guardians and strength of our city. This allows us to represent as much of the city's aspects as possible.
We are asking you to vote regarding 2 lists of candidates - one for the noble/merchant seats and one for the citizenry seats. We are not holding elections for the warden seats, simply as they represent the army, city watch and adventurers respectively and we have no need to change these roles.
For each group, please rank them in order of your preferences, the top 3 candidates overall in each will either enter or remain on the Council.
Choose wisely."
[Out of Character:
So we want to give players the chance to vote on the new council, drawn up from NPCs with one notable exception. The town council has been relatively quiet since it's inception, but with this new council, however it is formed - even if it remains exactly the same - will be a bit more active, hopefully.
An administrative point: We are asking you to vote once per player, rather than per character, as people have different numbers and that just gets messy. If you wish to vote in character, figure out who you are voting as. If you are wondering why your other characters didn't vote, there's plenty of reasons from apathy to uncertainty to just not being available or paying attention or even thinking that voting is a smart way to make any political decision.
It's a unique moment for the game, so it'll be interesting to see what you do. But please, one vote per player, not character so we can retain our sanity. This poll will be live online for one week. On Monday 7th October, the poll will close and we'll announce the results.
And again, choose wisely.]
