22 Eleint, 1396 AR
at a military camp near Jarvenol, K’ul Goran
It seems the gods have foreclosed on the life of Mystigon the mage. His body was brought to Zot Goran last night or this morning. So GV told us when we arrived in the city. I spoke to a huge minotaur soldier, just returned from the battle-lines, who beheld M’s decease. She told me he fought bravely alongside the K’ul Goran army to hold back the giants, but at last fell in the thick of battle. A sad end but perhaps a fitting one for the man: brave, reckless, powerful, quick to involve himself in others’ affairs, slow to back down in the face of a challenge. I wonder, at the end – was he satisfied? Did he regret? Did he lament things left undone or welcome release?
For others, the war continues. It seems that the giant host, after first striking W into KG, has turned N and is advancing along the border, destroying one fort after another. Surprisingly considered strategy for hill or even stone giants, from what I have read – and the KG soldiers seem to agree. But this has spared the greater part of the civil populace thus far.
Some giants have yet at times rampaged W before falling back. One such band set fires W of Stormbreak in the fields thereabout. At first the great winds of this country blew the flames back E towards the giants’ mountains but they are about to change – so say the adepts here who are wise in the changes of weather. Should the fires turn W, they could destroy KG’s most abundant farmlands & threaten its foremost agrarian city, Jarvenol, wherefore has GV bargained to provide our aid to extinguish them – at a higher rate of 100 gp each.
With me:
GV supplied us with 3 wands able to extinguish areas of fire magically. Travelled not by hill-surfer this time but in a larger wheeled sailing barge, journeying ESE from Zot Goran until nightfall. Now accommodated in a military camp near Jarvenol, tomorrow to deal with the blaze.

With me:
- Bubbles;
- Sheryl;
- Augustine, a human(?) magician and healer;
- Bones, a magical bird-man like Pieni but more apt for battle;
- Taz, a red dragonborn and close-quarters warrior.
