To my dearest friend Mace,
I hope that this missive finds you well. Actually, my main hope is that this missive finds you at all, given you've been on holiday from the time we returned from the temple we explored with your new friend.
As you know, ordinarily I write missives and send them out into the ether destinationless, however this time I thought that it would be polite of me to keep you abreast with ongoing events in the world, while you take your holiday, given you did so with me while I was recovering recently. I'll admit, you tasked me with looking after things for you while you were away, and... I may have stepped out for a little while longer than I originally expected to. All will be made clear.
So, I heard rumours of a cat who had put up a notice about some missing people. Now, this "case" sounded rather familiar and interesting, so I immediately travelled out to meet up and assist. We visited the Countess' manor to question some guards and Donovan the Butler, where I think we caused more disruption than garnered useful information. Thankfully I was able to prevent too much ill-will by donating some recuperation funds to the guards.
Following this, we travelled to one of the Countess' warehouses... Or intended to, we were interrupted by a distraction and bait operation that even you would be proud of (sidenote: Lots to learn from this), and we received a note saying "Don't play their games", basically. Bubbles saw one of the fellows who did the thing in an alley in then distance, and tried to bolt to follow but Rama held her back. I didn't help matters when I said "If they wanted us to follow, they'd have left slower". This seemed to incentivise her going as she just... Bolted. We made chase, and... Yeah, ok, the fellow was waiting around the corner.
After a discussion with him, he seemed to want to... Perhaps this is better being discussed in person. He gave us a very, very good lead on the missing person we were chasing: they sailed away. Far away. Either back to the Sword Coast, or to K'ul Goran. Our new contact was able to source us further contacts to assist, and lo and behold... We were teleported over to K'ul Goran. Say, isn't there a war going on there at the moment? I was hesitant to travel there, but I was assured the area we were headed to was safe.
Sheryl had a... Friend who could get us there safe. We teleported. Met up with our contact, me and Sheryl had a good few hours of drinking, then we had a ride on this... Vehicle thing our new friend Rama rented. Seriously, it was inbelieveably fast.
We got to the edge of the jungle where we believe our lost friend was headed, and our feline friend Greebo picked up on their trace. It wasn't long before we reached a clearing with tents and an old campfire...
...Which is where we were set upon by a group of... Things. In retrospect and following some light readings, they are... were very clearly raptors. Sheryl and Bubbles didn't have much fun fighting them, and to be honest me and my cowardly self in the air didn't either really.
After a short period of time, some fellows came to rescue us. A lizard a hobgoblin and a... My memory falters. I'm tempted to say goblin, but I am likely wrong. They attacked the rapters viciously, but Rama heroically took the last kill.
They took us to their home underground, a haven for outlanders, which is apparently spread out under the whole of K'ul Goren (I know what you are thinking, and I agree, it is worth discussing). I did find a map in the camp of where the entrances were, but this was destroyed unfortunately.
We were led back to the city, and we were transported back to Port Ffirst, where I am writing this to you before I head back to catch up on matters at the shop.
Again, my apologies that I had to step out while looking after matters on your behalf, however I also believe you will understand when I say that these other matters were... More pressing.
Hoping you return soon,
Signed,
Arkadius Hogg
