15 Eleint, 1396 AR
at a farm in K’ul Goran
First day of job for GV to reconnoitre the giants’ cave we discovered last month. 75 gp each once more, despite greater danger – but GV confides this is now coming from funds paid to DH Council by K’ul Goran Senate for our services, & he believes good performance on our part may enable him to negotiate an increased fee in time. Also no blindfolds required this time!
Companions on this occasion:
Left Zot Goran shortly after noon. There being six of us and only one of CF, I offered to pilot one of the ‘hill-surfers’ – for they seemed a simple enough vehicle – and persuaded Mystigon that he could do so to. To my dismay, it was much more difficult than I expected, and so I acquitted myself very ill – so much so that CF must hitch my vessel to hers and tow it, requiting my poor efforts with exceeding jolting and jostling and leaving me quite bilious. Mys fared better with his vessel, and CF enlisted a young minotaur soldier named Tynan (or something like it) to pilot the fourth.
Resting tonight in a farmstead whose owner CF persuaded to allow us to stay. Mys has just shown me something remarkable & troubling: the soil of this place – reputedly this whole country – drinks blood! He cut his hand and dropped blood on the ground, where it sank in directly, leaving no trace on the earth. Tried it myself with the same effect. Curious, lowered my bleeding hand closer to the ground to test whether it would draw the blood faster than its natural flow, but found my answer another way, for CF saw and warned me not to do it, lest I lose more blood than I could spare! Saith she, the K’ul Gorans do not go barefoot and, should they cut themselves, try to keep the wounded part from touching the ground. The effect is not instant but can be dangerous with long contact. TASK: on return to Zot Goran, visit library to read more about this.

Companions on this occasion:
- Faye, looking different this time – confirming my suspicion that they are one of the fey elves
- Milo
- Mystigon
- Sheryl, a halfling I think, but with a fey-like character
- Bubbles, a half-devil of purple hue
