As discussed on the discord recently, I keep a google calendar for Kantas to help me keep track of what day it is in the calendar of Harptos (the most widely used calendar in Faerûn). People seemed interested so I said I'd post a link here: The unofficial Kantas calendarI've also recently started using it to keep track of when I think the events of particular game sessions happen and where characters are on what days. (Names of game sessions are in capital letters.) My starting-point is always to assume that the events of a game happen on the day corresponding to the real-world day when the game itself happens, but sometimes other factors make that impossible, and then I come up with what I think is a plausible chronology, in consultation with other players as appropriate. None of this is 'canon' in the sense of being definitively approved by DMs. But I try my best to make it consistent with canon, and I work on the assumption that it's correct unless / until contradicted by a DM. You're free to do the same if you like. The more people believe it, the more authoritative it is! If there's interest, we could think about making this into a shared calendar that we can all edit, or something. I'm not sure how that would work logistically. But for now, I'm going to keep control of it myself. Having said that, if you have an opinion about when a particular thing happened / is happening / will happen, and you'd like me to include it in the calendar, please do message me on here or on discord and tell me your reason for thinking that the thing happens at the date / time you've proposed, and if I'm persuaded then I'll add it to the calendar.

The calendar has been updated with all dates in 2020 / 1497 DR. Let me know if you spot any mistakes! I'm pleased to report that September 2020 lines up exactly with Eleint 1497 and November 2020 lines up exactly with Uktar 1497, so during those months whatever day of the month it is in the real world will be the same day of the equivalent month in Kantas. Something to look forward to!

The calendar (link in first post in this thread) now has all dates through to the end of 2021, which will be 1498 DR.
I've also added the festivals and holidays that I know of from Kantas canon, plus a smattering of festivals that seem like they might plausibly have been brought to the Dawnlands from Faerûn. Some PCs birthdays or other notable anniversaries are included. If you want your character's birthday added, or you have any other suggestions for notable dates to add, just let me know!
Another new feature for 1498 is the inclusion of not only the official name of each month in the Harptos calendar but also the names more normally used by the common folk.
Finally, as a special treat, I've also extended the calendar backwards to the beginning of the first year of Dawnlands lore, 1492 DR, the year in which Willum and Aurelia first passed through the portal. I haven't put in many events from the 1492-1496 period, so again if there are any that you think should be there, tell me when they happened and I'll add them.
Enjoy!

Now updated with all dates for 2022 (1499 in the Dalereckoning). Featuring more festivals (courtesy of the Forgotten Realms Wiki)! As always, let me know if there are any events, anniversaries, holidays, birthdays, &c. that should be included.
Happy new year!
PS: since last year and my post above, the Kantas player's guide has made clear that Aurelia and Willum first found and went through the portal not in 1492 but in Eleint 1491 DR, six months before the founding of Daring Heights in Ches 1492. I've therefore also extended the calendar backwards to Eleint 1491.

The unofficial calendar is now complete up to the end of 1500 DR. 1500 is a leap year in the calendar of Harptos, meaning in the summer we'll have the festival of Shieldmeet, an extra calendar day that occurs only once every four years. Because of the way the Kantas calendar lines up with the Gregorian calendar, this also means that 1500 DR is one day longer than 2023 and will end on 1 January 2024. One point to note is that some solstice and equinox festivals may be one day out. This is because the Forgotten Realms wiki (where most of the information in the unofficial Kantas calendar comes from) assumes that solstices and equinoxes are on exactly the same date every year, whether it's a leap year or not, and doesn't always make clear whether a given festival is one that occurs on the solstice / equinox (whatever date that may be) or on the specific date (even if it isn't the solstice / equinox that year). In cases where I know for certain that an event takes place on the solstice / equinox (such as Merla Copperkettle's birthday or the final day of the Galafrost festival) I've put it in the calendar on the day when the solstice / equinox will actually happen in the real world, as it's my understanding that the solstices and equinoxes in Kantas happen on the same days that they happen in the real world. But if the exact timing of such events is important, I recommend checking with Worldbuilders.
