Stedd, Ian (Menace), and 3 more like this

"Just wait a minute, it wont be….. Ah! There! That's the one I was talking about."
It's early morning and the sun is just about breaking on what feels like another warm day in Port Ffirst. Beranwald sits on the roof of the shank along with Oscar and Juno, a stray Ginger cat the pair happened upon on their way back from new town a few days ago. She's not so mangy looking as Oscar but just as quiet and reserved as he is. The trio are sat on the roof of the Shank eyeing up a tall human leaving and heading for the docks.
"You can smell him from here…. And he loves cats! If you spend some time around him he is bound to feed you…. Maybe you should go Juno and bring some back for Oscar….." - Beranwald looks at Oscar - "Don't look at me like that! You know why I said that. I'm trying to help aren't I?"
The man vanishes around a corner and the trio sit a while in silence for a few minutes watching the old town slowly come to life again. Juno lays out to warm in the rising sun while Oscar makes a feeble attempt at cleaning himself before laying down as well. Greebo remains sitting in his usual noble demeanour, wearing his new backpack, idly flicking his tail back and forth as he watches the day unfold.
"…. I took your advice my friend and went on another little adventure. Quite a fruitful one as well. That’s where I met Stedd, the one with the fish. He has a noble heart. Truth be told he is exactly the kind of young man I would've taken for a Squire once upon a time."
"…."
"But anyway, I joined a scrappy group on some quest to find an escaped prisoner. Not sure on all the details exactly but I did see an opportunity to meet the Countess so tagged along and assisted in negotiations on their behalf. Never found the escapees but still an interesting trip. Even met some of…. ARE YOU SLEEPING!?"
Oscar opens his eyes with a start
"I expect this from Juno, she doesn't have our rapport yet, no offence Juno."
Juno is, for her part, still laying out in the sun.
"…but I expect more from you Oscar, really…. I was saying we even met some of the Frog-like people out in the bogs outside town. An interesting folk and seem friendly enough. I hope to pay them a visit one day."
"purrrr"
"well the same reason as ever. I have only really seen this Port town and I yearn to explore."
"purrrr"
"No I don't suppose they would have anything like that"
"…."
"Because they are still a peoples of this land and may need some help"
"…."
Beranwald sighs heavily - "No… No nothing since the last time." - He looks off into the distance for a long moment before hearing a quiet mew from Juno
"Oh! Well we found them fighting some swamp creatures. Between Faye and Myself we managed to even spare 2 of them from Death. They seemed mighty helpful and were persuaded…"
"Meow"
"No not this time! We merely asked … persuaded to show us to some structure they saw someone people heading off to. Turns out it wasn't the escapee in the end but at the time it was a strong lead. They do have an interesting Language you know. Barely passable understanding of Common but Bubbles was some assistance there."
"…."
"Oh, Bubbles was the Tiefling Girl I believe Stedd may be fond of. He keeps trying to show off to her…. We ended up naming them Harold, Kevin, Narold and Bevin… not the most imaginative names, I know, but much easier to say than UoRgé OuGh OrOuReÉé… I'm not sure I can get the pronunciation on that just right… Hard to emulate the croaky quality with which they speak."
"…."
"Right, so we found ourselves at some old feral kind of Ruins and one of the group, Faye just strolled on in without a second thought. We all followed of course, can't have her wandering around in a place like that alone…. Dreadful business in there too. The lady was accosted by something otherworldly in there, all lightning and tentacles..... I was sure we had lost her at one time but she made a miraculous recovery… Aha, see now this one…. This is something new entirely. Look here"
From their perch on the roof, the trio watch a hooded figuire brazenly walk around the corner, a small retinue of followers tagging along close behind, including several children who seem to be dancing around trying to get his attention before scurrying off in different directions
"That... is a dangerous man walking there. He talks with grace and an intelligence that belie the menace that resides in his eyes. Definitely one I need to watch out for…. Still, I can't deny his use. Of all the adventurers I have met thus far, he alone seems most adept at aiding me directly in a fray."
He looks to Oscar
"No, I daren't say our agenda's align at all my friend, but you are right as ever. Sometimes the the path to the light leads through the darkness...."
The sun continues to rise and a breeze starts to bring the smell of cooking. Soon enough, Juno stretches and sinks off to look for something to eat
"I guess that's our time for today then... I think I'll see if Tiny has bought that bed she mentioned getting for me.... Oh did I not mention her yet? Oh ho, she is a fiery one! A gnome raised by Goliaths. The kind to charge ahead without thinking! I wouldn't cross her. Aahhhh but first, let's see if i can get myself an audience with the countess today, though I doubt I shall be so lucky turning up empty handed..... See you tomorrow Oscar."
Beranwald stretches and makes his way across the roof, jumping across to another roof and begins making his way towards New Town agin, leaving Oscar to man the roof of the Seashank alone.
