Port Ffirst. Some months ago.
The northernmost tooth of the Tritooth Wharf. A fenced off estate; a gothic mansion surrounded by a lavish garden.
Tugark enters the estate, he is seated, waiting on countess Arnis Jinlin. Once in her study, and pleasantries were exchanged, Tugark speaks, "I'm not one to mince words, Countess. I am a sailor, and I have been without a ship for some time now in this new world. I seek a partnership that will afford me some freedom on the waters, but one that is profitable for all involved."
The countess, a light blue tiefling with pale yellow eyes, dressed in fine, velvety, bright-coloured gowns, considers Tugark’s opening words for a moment, "Ah yes. Word has travelled around of your deeds and also of you past occupation as a... sailor." She says, curling a provocative smile. "I believe we can reach a mutually beneficial agreement so let's go straight to business then. What do you need from me and what are you willing to offer?"
"My time as an adventurer here has been lucrative, thought so much to purchase my own ship. Yet.” Tugark pauses. “I should like an even split of the ship construction, I have enough gold for that. For such a partnership, a percentage of all profit before crew shares will be yours.”
The Countess stands up, walks towards the nearest window that has a privileged view of one of the wharf's canals. "Hmmm... a ship you say. And what sort of business would you conduct aboard this ship if I may ask?" She says while her eyes track a small passenger ferry boat outside.
"Exploration. Trade. These seas have many new places and faces to discover. And… Should you need a rival shipment delayed, well I can see to that as well. I understand you want to break the hold the LeNoir brothers have on this town."
"Hmm break a hold? I do not know of what you speak, the LeNoirs have done nothing but help this town." She says enhancing her smile, showing one of her pointed canines, slyly winking at Tugark.
Silence fills the room for an awkward moment as she intently studies Tugark searching for sliver of ill intention.
"Very well! It's your lucky day Captain I feel in the right mood for some 'trade and exploration'! So, here are my conditions." As she pulls a piece of parchment from one of her drawers and starts writing.
Today.
Tugark walks through the streets of Port Ffirst; through the town towards the waterfront to the north. Expecting to join his new crew on The Venture. An apt name he thinks to himself. As he approaches the pier the crowd starts to get thicker until he spots a small stage by the Venture and the countess speaking. Tugark makes his way through the crowd to the front as the countess spots him and asks him up on the stage, handing him a bottle. "Well?" The countess waves her arm towards bow of the ship...
