Journal Entry Three
A couple of days have past since the race, been doing my daily walks around practicing with the new silvered long sword. Went to Three Headed Etting for my breakfast and to check up on the Job Board; Indeed there was something interesting a short request to come as soon as possible to the Gilded Mirror written with a fine writing style by Vixtor Jurls ; sat down to have my lunch and saw that the job took the fancy of other adventurers, many that i recognized from the race which were: Heret, Pieni, Trevor and large Firebolg who introduced themselves as BB "Maybe short for Big & Blue?" . some stopped to chat with each other, then just headed to the Gilded Mirror, I introduced myself and said am interested in the job too.
We went into the Gilded Mirror saw LeoCanto singing a soft song suitable for the time of the day. Heret was sitting playing a game with him-which was introduced as Giants and Halflings- we played a a round and then into business mode we went we made a deal which Heret managed to gamble it risking his own share to increase it, but lady luck was on his side.
Vixtor introduce himself as a noble of Queen Sarastra's Court and he has been keeping an eye on Jack since the race and he noticed that jack has traveled to our plane and went deep into the mountains and been there for days, with no way of knowing what he is up to. Our job was to scout ahead and try divining his intentions, and stopping them if the possibility arises.
I went to buy a horse for the journey what a beautiful beast of both grey and red coloring - Called him Micheal I did - .
We started our journey and trekked through the forest, managed to catch me a rabbit which was delicious " Don't think Pieni was happy about that ". at some point Pieni disappeared and scouted ahead when we saw something in the distance; when he came back he said that it was a goblin fort but there was a massacre their all were killed and that he noticed a fell Gnoll bodies too. aparently their was sign written in blood saying to stay away and etc.
I tried convincing the party to dispatch with those Gnolls knowing that they are just murderous creatures who do it for fun and not out of necessity. but they didn't want to bother with it, Heret even looked at me as if I was blood thirsty " So much for people not judging by the looks" . So we went on -but i marked the location on the map so i can scout it later on-.
At some point we arrived at the entrance of a valley (the last known location of Jack) so we started looking for tracks and clues but failed till Trevor stopped us and said that we were supposed to look for long weird tracks not foot prints( for the fact that Jack had weird way of movement w and points out that was like humanoids ) and pointed out where to look.
We follow the tracks to an entrance of a cave; after a few failed attempts to stealth with our horses and others jingling about, we managed to quiet down eventually start walking towards the inner parts.
We see large chamber with at least a couple of entrances and big slab of stone looking like it's being pushed and jammed down into the earth, and lots of metallic crates and etc.
the moment we enter the metallic creature near the stone slab says "battle mode activate" tried saying we are friends but to no avail so we started fighting them and it was really awkward fighting balls and boxes. But at some point Jack appears trying to look even larger and scare us off but Pieni calls out and he calms down and stops those little mechanical creature - the ones who are still alive - from fighting.
We have a chat and find out he is sick of being a servant and Jester to the Queen and her Court so he used his chance to join the games and he said the moment he wins he will appoint himself a noble and no longer be Jester and servant to anyone.
He refused to say how he came to be her court jester to begin with. All the while he was talking to us I noticed something weird about him, how he talked and moved. Something that was contradicting his very precise mechanical nature. There was madness there!
He admitted that he will be cheating to make sure he wins, and said vaguely that no one will be hurt or killed but again he looked to mad.
We let him be and left but just before we leave i worn him that i will be back for his life if he hurts anyone. which he looked crazy but understanding and said he might take my life then. " Need to learn more about the Mechanus's Lore "
We left, but Pieni said he wanted to sneak in as a mouse and see if he could discover more. While Pieni was In Trevor apparently sneaked in and got a closer look at the stone and by his description i realized it's similar to the stones in fey world version of Daring Heights. And when Pieni came he explained that apparently there are two more stones to be planted, concreting my suspicions of it being similar to the Daring Heights stones.
We started heading back, Pieni said he wanted to scout the mountains and Flew off. We went back to Vixtor explained everything and told him to hold on to Pieni's payment.
I took Micheal and traveled back the road and to check on that bloody goblin fort, deduced it was a definite attack by a large pack of Gnolls; started having the feeling of being watched and so did Micheal he started moving nervously, so i jumped on him and galloped back, met Pieni at some point who told me about many Gnoll packs in the mountain a few lycanthropes leading them.
I went to army told them about it but they said it's going to be a while before they can deal with it, so i started mentioning it to the fellow adventurers that we should cull this threat before it's too big to handle.
