Gladiatorial combat...what was i thinking?
Rojor nursed his head at the inn, thinking over the tournament. At least he got some money out of it, maybe it's worth the throbbing pain behind his eyes. Still, head injuries aside, he counted the tournament as a success and at least a decent start to his newly solo career...
It was tough to leave Alfas - the man raised him, taught him everything and saved his hide more times than Rojor would like to admit - but in the end Rojor knew that it was only a matter of time before Alfas robbed the wrong mark. Alfas the thief, the con-man and (alleged) murderer would never tell Rojor where he found him and any further questioning would leave to a beating, but Rojor knew that his innate magical talents were most likely the reason Alfas took him in. They proved useful, conjuring an illusion here or a mystical fog there, to mask the thief's crimes. Still, as he got older, Rojor understood more that Alfas saw him more as a useful tool than an adoptive son and the constant life on the run from whatever authorities they've ticked off that moment was losing its glamour.
He could have turned Alfas in, maybe get a sizeable reward for doing so, but he couldn't bring himself to - for as bad as Alfas was, he did still raise him.
After some endless wandering, he ended up in Kantas. He had heard the rumours and promises of this land and he thought, if nothing else, it would be a good starting point of his new life...and enough of a hiding place form his old one.
