Journal Entry One
Right in front of me was the gate that is going to take me to the land of my destiny. “Suddenly electric sparks jolt between two pillars and the gate activates” the cloaked wizard points ahead.
I checked if I got everything on me and jumped through. Once the light disappeared and my eyes adjusted, I saw a bustling town, The Town of Daring Heights…
I spent a couple of days building some relations with the town’s guard and checking on the town’s politics. Got pointed when I arrived to the Three Headed Etting Tavern that has rooms and a Quest Board if looking for a place to stay and find some jobs.
The Three Headed Etting, what a fine tavern 'just what I like'. It has a curious round wooden table a roughly carved map on it, with lots of adjustments and additions ‘Don’t think I should rely on it’. On my second day I go to the quest board and look for something simple to fill my pouch a bit. Saw a simple looking escort mission, which apparently attracted the eyes of a few others, but it wasn’t till next morning. So we decided to have a few drinks and get to know each other ‘It’s relaxing not getting second looks about how I look in this land’.
The party included William another tiefling ‘A bard’ he had a good voice on him ‘quick on flirting apparently’. Three Halflings, two of them looked like Mother (Taffeta) ‘Really Perceptive maybe mother’s intuition?’ and Daughter (Idari) ‘some divine power is about her and building up in that child’, the third Halfling (Bogg) kept talking about bagpipes ‘some type of music instrument as I understood’ he looked really tight with the half-orc (Baine) who looks like a good lad and loves a drink almost as much as me.
Halfway through our evening, after William offered me some mushrooms he found, that were just disappointments. Leo Kanto appeared ‘he introduced himself before saying any greetings even.. don’t like him’ , He started babbling about the lights going off in the fey world and how bad that will be for his business or something like that. ‘He owns The Gilded Mirror Hotel & Casino’, ‘’There is a rumour of him paying some adventurers in actual potato chips because they weren’t careful with his wording apparently.’’. After we made a fast deal with the guy and asked the Tavern Keep (Koll) to be our witness about our payment we headed straight out.
He explained that he has a main entrance to the fey world in his hotel. Once we arrived at The Gilded Mirror there was a big great looking design welcome mat that apparently cleaned up everything up to your knees once you step on it, but apparently our friend William didn’t realize that and started trying to dirty it as much as he can for he for whatever reason took a rivalry against Leo ‘probably something between bards’. Safe to say he got cleaner and only managed getting confused looks from everyone.
We went through the entrance and My it was bright couldn’t see what darkness Leo was talking about, but Taffeta pointed out and explained that it was a smidge darker and some shade of blue has appeared. She and Leo also explained that there are three stone pillars which keep this area brighter than usual as an agreement with the Bear King and Queen of Magic .
We decided walking and investigating the stones. ‘Colours are really vibrant in the fey world and kept feeling a bit emotional there too.’
We arrived at the first with everyone’s help including Leo we managed activating it and a big pit opened behind it that no one knew about , we went down the pit seeing some Lightning Miffits and an Air Genasi Chanting behind them on a glowing blue orb who was looking surprised and worried that we appeared, we fought the Miffits and Taffeta managed to net one, I knocked out another , William and Idari kept casting some laughing spells at the Genasi disturbing his chanting we ended up knocking him out too.
After a bit he became more conscious but apparently didn’t understand nor could speak in our languages, so basically useless. We climbed out of the pit and heard a woman’s voice saying that wasn’t expected, we all looked in that direction seeing some sort of a Genasi a lightning one but half her body was pure lightning and energy, and she said we only stalled her plan and game and something about midnight “with a flash of lightning she disappeared”.
We decided to hurry and check the next pillar, while Leo said he is going to observe and check on the last pillar himself so we don’t lose time, for midnight was not long from then. We went to the next pillar and saw a pit opened there already. We went in expecting a fight but there was no one but two chambers with a long hallway with lightning zapping between the walls of it. I and Taffeta found a lever after inspecting for traps we pulled on it, and found it slowed the lightning in the hallway to a speed that could be maneuvered but we needed to keep it held. So Baine and Bogg went for it. With a few zaps they managed to reach the other chamber and deactivate whatever was done there.
We left the pit and started heading to the last, halfway a bird flies between us and Leo appears and explains that this is a game between the Fey Courts and the lightning lady is Cerce of the Tempest and in employ of the River king against the Queen of Magic. And that there are some bets going around now between the courts on who is going to win.
Taffeta explained that they have a treaty between the Daring Heights and the Bear King who is in employ of the Queen of magic so we needed to help, so on we went.
We reach to the last pillar finding Cerce, an Air Elemental and another Air Genasi chanting by the pillar. Leo turned to a giant ape and leapt to fight against Cerce and we started dealing with the other two, before we jumped ourselves Idari the cute girl gave her mother a big hug , who noticeably gave her mother more will to fight ‘She didn’t look lacking in that part’ Taffeta summoned an earth elemental to distract and annoy the air elemental while we tried going for the genasi to stop his chanting, On our way we heard a shout seeing William being blown by the Air Elemental and getting unconscious, but we couldn’t leave the genasi when he was in our mercy after Idari made him start giggling for no reason, stopping his chanting for the moment. Suddenly the fight stopped and Leo shouted something about us winning and him surrendering to Cerce. I didn’t like that and just knocked out the genasi finishing the fight “suddenly lights blast out of the pillars and it looked like it’s brighter”. ‘Maybe midnight has struck?’
Cerce started laughing and said it was an interesting game or something such as that, and that she looks forward for our outcomes in future ones ”disappearing with a flash of lightning again” ‘realising at that second that I took sides with the Queen of Magic’.
Leo tried getting away with paying but couldn’t, he payed and gave us an autographed picture of him ‘definitely don’t like the guy’.
We went back to town, I to a well earned sleep for the night before my escort job in the morning.
