"Dear Thea,
I've made it all the way to Kantas! Arrived by boat a month or so ago. Quite the trip but I'm happy I made it. Staying in Port Ffirst (no idea why they have so many F's in the name) and making a name for myself in the adventuring business. Found a cheap little place to stay, not very classy if you catch my drift, but not the worst place I've ever stayed either. It's a good place for keeping your ear to the ground. It's run by a guy named Jedd, bit of a dickhead but I like him. Makes one hell of a strong drink. (No I'm not getting in trouble, calm down)
The seashank is good for meeting new people, loads of people come and go. There's another guy staying here more permanently like me, his name's Bogg. Tiny little halfling fella, slippery and quick. Very passionate about bagpipes, but I'm not actually sure he knows how to play them. We have each other's backs.
It's good to have a friend again.
Got hired for a seafaring adventure couple of days ago. An interesting looking type named 'Seaweed Stefan' (I KNOW right, how good is that name) dropped by the shank as we were telling spooky stories and sold us on going looking for some treasure in, like, some sort of dangerous place. He reckoned there was ghosts and other dangerous things but we went anyway. He hired me and Bogg and a bunch of others from the inn as well and off we went the next morning. (That's how most of the adventuring stuff seems to go - a stranger hires you and bunch of other strangers and you just gotta hope that they can handle themselves in a fight) There was two half-elves, a blue dwarf, a kind of bird-looking fella and an actual tortoise. But like, big and walking upright. I'm not making this up, I swear!
This guy named Nuvros offered up his ship for the expedition for a cut of the profits and off we went.
Thea, there was actual ghosts. All see-through and spooky and not very friendly. We fought them on the boat in the middle of the night and then they possessed some of the party and jumped in the water so we had to jump in too and go after them. Then those ghosts asked for our help so we stopped fighting them and went to fight a Super Angry Ghost Lady in a shipwreck, under water. Wild right?
Turns our it's pretty hard fighting with a greatsword under water but I got a few good hits in. This guy named Markas ended up beating it to death (can ghosts die a second time?) with his staff. Bogg got knocked unconscious during the fight so I had to carry him back up to the boat, but he's okay now. Bit scary though. I've gotta get him some armor or something, he can't even manage a shield, says it's not good for his sneaking. I just don't want him to get hurt.
We got some gold out of the whole thing, but not as much as we should have because old Seaweed Steffo pulled a fast one on us and looted the other shipwrecks while we fought the ghost lady. Sneaky bastard.
But, Thea, I found a REALLY cool sword. Get this, it TALKS. I don't think anyone else can hear it, only me. It says it didn't used to be a sword so maybe it's a person that got magicked into a sword? And it didn't have a name so I'm calling it Phil. It wasn't to keen on that (dunno why) but didn't really come up with anything else so I'm sticking with Phil for now.
It looks brilliant and I did a few drills with it after coming back to Port Ffirst. Pretty sure it's gonna awesome in a fight.
Anyway, Bogg wants to go up to New Town again and look for musicians playing bagpipes, I'm gonna go with so he doesn't get into trouble. I'll write you soon again.
Hope your doin alright. If you're heading that way, will you stop by Dad and say hi for me? Tell him I'm doing alright and staying out of trouble. Put a flower down or something.
Cheers.
