There are new faces regularly being seen around Port Ffirst and Daring Heights. So much so that it's at times hard to keep track of who some of the regulars are and who's new in town. Sometimes you might notice a light skin Elven woman walking around, others you'll notice a dark skinned human, others you might notice a dark blue Tiefling. You might convince yourself or tell yourself that these are different people but some of the adventures and heroes who have been frequenting these places have come to know this shape-changer (or sorts) as Serpentine. What she really looks like seems to be up for debate but there are a few constants many have seemed to gleam from their interactions with her and her many guises. - She is naturally a Tiefling. - She is most likely of the dark blue variety. - She has a long thin tail though she rarely uses it functionally. - She is always carrying a staff or spear or walking stick of some kind, though it feels like it's not a necessity. - She seems to often have a tiny companion with her. Generally a white raven though not always. It's assumed it's a familiar - She is always wearing multiple necklaces with a variety of holy symbol's on them. Her motives generally seem to be unclear as she travels from adventure to adventure. There's certainly an element of good in her as she joins various parties to help save and rescue varies people around her new home. From escorting a band of travelling monks to helping a long lost Elven community to recently helping a Triton prepare his community for a grand celebration. That said, her motives and methods are questionable (from the disguising herself to how her magic manifests itself to just straight up lying and her penchant for the darker side of life). Ultimately, she seems to be helping out and seems to want to do good. Though what counts as good and the means to get there may not be the same for you as it is for Serpentine.

Mother Serpent...
I am not sure where to begin this time. I feel like I'm closer to you but I'm unsure of what will come next. I recently discovered some of your former followers and worshipers are here. The Yuan-Ti. I had heard whispers on my travels and eventually confronted the Drow who confirmed that the Yuan Ti were indeed around and that one was staying in my location. I have since chosen to set up shop in this Port Ffirst place.
I met the one called Ixcel. Or better described, mother, Ixcel met me. This Yuan-Ti found me at the hook and conversed with me. We felt a connection that was hard to put into words. I can only thank you for that mother. She knew I was connected to you. Connected to them. Your power flows through me and grows stronger by the day and others are feeling it. I feel this may lead to them fearing me. I shall cross that path when I come to it.
I must confess, mother, I want to use and work with this Ixcel to find out more about you. More about our connection. Ixcel seems knowledgeable in the ways of the old gods like you. She knows of your history and whilst I drink your power I do not know much about you. I still have not heard from you. I've only felt your presence and power grow within me, guiding me. She can give me answers to help better know you so I can better understand you, Mother.
Apparently I'll find answers heading off towards Sunset Spine. There are Yuan-Ti there though I have been warned that they could be dangerous. Knowing the power you have bestowed upon me I do not doubt those that followed you and your brethren would also be difficult foes. Ixcel asked for information as a payment for this information. Knowledge for knowledge. A simple request asking for books and maps. Almost trinket like. I can seek them out for her as I gain more information on you.
I await to hear where you steer me next mother.
I also await to see this Ixcel adventuring. I sensed a great deal of power from her. Perhaps stronger than I at this present moment. Engaging her would not be wise if I am unprepared. I shall have to be cautious with this potential new ally. Compared to the others I have travelled with she has been the least afraid of me and my connection to you which bodes well, though I had grown used to that fear. Nevertheless mother, I shall venture out to find out more about you soon.
This Ixcel has warned of the dangers of this travel but has also asked for another urgent matter to be dealt with. We shall... practice... with that matter first before we venture out on the journey to find you and the old gods. What lies on from there I do not know but do know, Mother Serpent. Do know, Dendar, I am ready and willing whenever you are.

There once was a girl. A young Tiefling girl. No older than 3 who was left wandering the streets. No parents around. No adults looking after her… but never worried. Never scared. It was only when hunger overcame here that she ever seemed in trouble. It was then that she found two human women. Esmerelda and Della-Donne. Both had travelled. Both had adventured but both thought that life was behind them. Both had moved on and both, when seeing this young tiefling girl took pity on her. They offered her food. They offered her a bed to stay in and they offered her a home. A family. A name. Lilah.
Lilah loved Esmerelda and Della-Donne. And they loved her. They raised her as if she was her own. They protected her from anyone who looked down on this tiefling. They taught her the ways of the world. Taught her of the planes, of the gods. Della-Donne told Lilah of her adventuring past. Of battles vs. Orc’s and Goblins. How much had, quite literally, saved Della-Donne’s life.
Esmerelda told this young girl of the Gods. Of all the realms and dominans these gods had control over. Lilah always liked the Yuan-Ti ones. Lilah seemed to like the darkness that came along with their stories and Esmerelda was more than happy to oblige her little one with tails of these snake like people and their worship and practice.
As Lilah grew, she lived a life of happiness. Though restlessness took over her life as she approached her 20’s. Seemingly slowly growing discontent with the life of pleasantry at home. She wanted more. She wanted to adventure. But other than the blood of the hells running through her, this little girl didn’t have any magics within her. Whilst Della-Donne told her stories of her tales, Lilah never picked up on her bardic skills. She was never much of a fighter. Whilst nimble at times Lilah had never grown to be strong. Despite her desire to adventure being high, the reality of it seemed less and less likely. The more books Esmerelda and Della-Donne taught Lilah the more she wanted to explore the worlds.
This conundrum grew day by day, the happiness this threesome had shared was slowly coming under threat. When a voice spoke to Esmerelda one night. An old voice. Smelling of death. Filling Esmerelda with a sense of nothingness. A voice Esmerelda had heard once before in a past life. The voice of a God. Of Dendar.
The night serpent asked a simple request. She asked for a daughter. Said ‘Your child has two loving mothers. Would a third mother truly be so much harm? I could give her power. I could help her survive. I could help you all if you help me’
It was a simple answer. In the morning Esmerelda told both Della-Donne and Lilah about this dream. About this voice. And by that evening, after a final meal of happiness, Esmerelda and Della-Donne baptised their child. No longer Lilah, they welcomed into the world, Serpentine.
Now with powers from a Patron, Esmerelda and Della-Donne trained Serpentine for two years. Teaching her of some of the dangers she may face, how best to deal with combat. But always reminding her that she can only rely on herself. Whilst Esmerelda and Della-Donne had made a great pair, the two had seen their fair share of betrayals. Their fair share of allies unable to help them. Ultimately whilst they would do their best to save others, it always came down to themselves to get through the day. They’d taught Lilah that, now Serpentine much realise that she must always fend for herself and rely on herself. Others can give her strength. Give her support and that support is welcomed and appreciated but ultimately she can only truly depend on herself.
On the 22nd anniversary of the day Esmerelda and Della-Donne first met this Tiefling girl, they bid goodbye to Serpentine as they let her out onto the world. Unsure if they would ever see her again, but confident that Serpentine would leave her mark on the world.
