Dorian, Grimes, and 5 more like this

As agreed, Oriloki delivers a copy of his first report to the Daring Heights Council.
Greetings, Mageister Yndoumil Atalantier.
I trust this missive finds you and the rest of the Watchful Order in good health and fruitful pursuits.
May I again reiterate my thanks to you for my first ambassadorial posting – already, I have found the experience most educational and singular.
And timely, too, I must say.
The Order was right to have its concerns about the numerous unusual interplanar activities and fluctuations occurring in this part of the world. While the frontierspeople of Daring are to be commended for their reactive bravery in the face of many threats over the last few years, I have found the overall sense of laissez-faire when confronted with such danger somewhat perturbing.
So much is still unknown about this land. As well as the higher-than-average concentration of portals (five at the last count – see attachments for locations and arcane configurations), the ethnographic distribution is noteworthy: there are Elves, and Dwarves, and Kobolds, and Tabaxi etc. abiding in this land, but each race and sub-race seems confined to one location on the continent. That is to say, a group of Moon Elves we recently encountered in one village seemed shocked that a) there were other types of Elves in the world and b) that they could live elsewhere. This is a most unexpected phenomenon – I do not think that anyone else in Daring has picked up on this and will endeavour to investigate further.
It is no surprise, however, that they have not had the time to properly map out and understand their environs: not a week goes past when some new “adventure” (read: crisis) does not demand their attention. In the single month since I arrived, not only has there been a major fracturing amongst the more prominent members of town (a direct consequence of the trial of the notorious Nowhere), but the following events have occurred:
i) Magali Khalister, the last remaining member of the vampiric Khalister family driven from Faerun many years ago, was discovered building a power base in the north of the continent. She has been dealt with, but it seems she has been interacting with Daring – unbeknownst to them – under the guise of The Duchess for a number of years.
I will look further into the influence she had during that time.
ii) An allegedly angelic being known as Wil has now appeared twice in as many weeks to involve theirself in events. They claim to speak on behalf of Corellon. I have insufficient data to corroborate any of this divine participation, but must confess the possibility to be a theoretical – and troubling – potentiality.
iii) A strange pyramid construct was unearthed beneath a village of Moon Druids to the north-east. It seems this village was previously controlled by a combination of a Hag and a Water Djinn (enough concern in those few words to last a lifetime, I’m sure you’ll agree!); but the root of their troubles was a strange device of Undead flavour. The device itself was destroyed before I could conduct any proper investigation. Wil involved theirself in this mission so it is clearly of some import.
iv) I have heard that a group of adventures recently investigated a chasm that lead directly to the Underdark and a large population of internecine myconids. There also seems to be a large concentration of Drow in the vicinity. I have no more information on this at this stage but wished to draw your attention to it as yet another possible source of future conflict and concern.
I have begun to build relationships with various organisations and individuals across the layered social strata of Daring. The ruling council will receive a copy of this - and subsequent - reports and I am in talks with them to occupy an observer's seat at meetings and hearings. Beyond the politicians, I have made contact with a number of the local clergy and businessmen - as well as several of the adventures who have taken up residence. I have yet to forge any links with the populace in general but will strive to do so in the coming weeks.
My apologies for the lack of detail in this communique - I will expand on the above in our next meeting - but I wished to summarily appraise you of the situation as soon as possible.
Please find attached my expenses claim for the last 31 working days. Receipts enclosed.
May your knowledge ever grow towards the light.
