Heret Velnnarul wishes the best of business to the cabinet of the Olem-Murnelvar Trading Company.
Lasira and I arrived safely yesterday in Daring Heights. We have taken rooms in an establishment named the Gilded Mirror, which of the town’s several lodging-places seems at once the most comfortable and most used by people of worth. Today we shewed ourselves at the Council Chamber and the Coinmaiden’s temple and in each place did present the Venture’s gifts and letters of greeting. I hazard that we may hope to be well received in those quarters hereafter.
On the morrow we shall begin to seek what chances may await for profitable trade.

Work began today on the Venture’s warehouse and trading-post. The situation is a most favourable one, without the town’s eastern wall on the trade road to Port Ffirst and but a short and easy journey to the great forest to the south which is named Feythorn.
We have begun to learn the ways of this town. Commerce is indeed very free here, and imposts few. No guilds are native and though those of the Sword Coast have some subscribers here, their voice is but a whisper. Most traders and merchandizers, if they dispute among themselves, turn to Lady Waukeen for an arbiter. Yet some who have been here since the first days of the town speak uneasily of her priests, for reasons they do not freely unfold to strangers. We shall delve more deeply into this.
Amnian goods are not much traded here and I believe there are those who would buy them. Some have piled up no little wealth and yet few merchants here proffer luxuries, fine foods, or precious things. There are, as well, many warriors and magicians drawn to this continent from the less civilized parts of Faerûn by the promise of adventure and discovery. Some of these have grown rich with plunder and are often in want of fine weapons and armour. They are also wont to find enchanted things that would fetch a handsome price in Athkatla or Crimmor.
I have heard tell of a chasm in the earth a short distance from the town where a rich vault once was found yet rests since then undisturbed. I have placed notice for guides and guards to accompany me thither in a few days’ time. In the mean while Lasira and I have in mind to speak to some of the better merchants of the town and judge which may have goods to delight the people of Amn.
