--Letter Fragment--
I’d barely been at the Fort for a few days before a fellow warrior approached me in the training yard. Her name was Aegis (looks a bit like your downstairs neighbor but with skin the color of your tomato sauce) and she asked me for help in a quest to repair the Weave at a place called Rae’s Folly to the south. I don’t know much about religion, but was happy to lend my sword! Five of us journey the two days to reach the spot - a massive 100’ crater in the middle of a forest. I had Jamai help me map it (and was very glad to find it a crater with sloping sides rather than a pit!). It was determined to be growing, bits of the planes leaking through, unstable magic killing and changing plants, the whole area sparking with energy. We managed to find three sigils that were anchor points for the area, and make them visible before some of the others strung a precarious rope construction together to access them (they were 20’ in the air)!
As Aegis and several others dealt with the points I stayed on the ground with another warrior to fight some of the odd dust devils that appeared. The magic in the area was very unstable and random effects kept happening each time a spell was cast. It reminded me of the time I told you about where three of the wagon drivers got drunk and threw their cargo of potion bottles at each other and the guards who tried to stop it! Bubbles instead of words, setting things on fire, horns and crowns, turning into (a still very deadly) potted plant, fleeing flumphs…the others got the worst of it, since I mostly used my blades, but I did turn purple once! In the end we managed to stabilize the spread of the instability, and headed back through a charming village called New Hillborrow.
