It is quiet in the Ettin. Coll is lazily cleaning the bar counter waiting for the first arrival of the day.
The main door is pushed open gently, and a small figure wearing a red cloak is silhouetted in the doorway.
The figure bangs its shoes against the side of the doorframe to knock off any mud before walking purposefully up to the bar. The oversized hood of the cloak is covering the persons face.
"Hello there, " announces Coll, "welcome to the Ettin, a place for drink and adventure.... I am afraid you have me at a loss, are you new in town.?"
The figure lowers the hood of its cloak, revealing the face of a very young girl, maybe six or seven years of age. A human, with piecing green eyes, bright red hair, and strange veined lines on her face"
"Ah hello there young lady," speaks Coll, "how may I....." and then Coll pauses. He is sure he recognises the girl. "Wait, aren't you....Samantha"
"Yes I am"
"But you look the same as you did when I last saw you....."
"I know"
"But that was, what, eight years ago"
"I know" The young girl interrupts Colls rambling thoughts, reaching into her cloak and pulling out a letter, waves it in front of her, "I wonder if you could help me. I am looking for a Mr Nowhere."
"Ah.......", says Coll, "Well there's a tale. Mr Nowhere has been through some things recently, you may want to wait until he is feeling better."
"No", says Samantha firmly, "Mr Nowhere told me in this letter to come find him as soon as I could. That it was very important"
Coll gives the little girl a faint smile, "Ok then young 'un, head north out of town and past the fields, there is a boarding house called the Hung Rabbit. You will find him there."
"Thank you," says the girl. With that she lifts the hood over her flame locks, turns heel and strides back out of the Ettin.
Coll watches her leave before picking up the rag, and continues to polish the bar. After a few moments he pauses, and sighs heavily. "Fuck!" he grumbles to no one in particular.
