Dear Ma & Pa (& Merla),
Now I know you must be curious to know more about the home I’m building for Fog and me. Well, let me tell you how myself, Yinmaris, Pipper, and Itzal helped a druid circle in Harnash by chopping down a really big tree.
The sending came in to Jenna. The Circle is deep in the jungles of Harnash and one of their own was attacking everything in sight with a giant kapok tree. Their leader/archdruid, Julianna, said the tree itself was not an awakened tree but something else. The druid that had gone rogue is named Kandor — don’t worry, he is still alive but he did have to be knocked out before he could be cured of what had infected him.
See, Kandor kept shouting about how the Circle had been tending to life and nature poorly, that nature is naturally destructive. Any attempt at reasoning with him got the Circle nowhere. Hence why we were called in.
After nearly half a day of trekking through the jungle — which I would not recommend doing in heavy plate armour, I might add — we came to where Kandor and the gargantuan tree was and, well, we got down to business. It was tough. All plantlife had a resistance to lightning damage, which meant Pipper could only attack Kandor, which thankfully she was able to knock him out fairly quickly. By doing so we discovered that he was connected to the tree through a fungal thread. The tree was certainly not a fun guy to beat around the bush with, but in the end, with Itzal’s cursing the tree to a swift end on the Path to the Grave, and Yinmaris championing Harmony, we were able to shatter the “face” of the tree into submission.
But we still had to deal with the fungus. Thankfully, Julianna and her Circle were able to cleanse the tree and the surrounding forest that had already started to grow the fungi. Then, as I was looking at the tree we all felled, I thought it was some very good wood and so asked Julianna if she would be okay if I used it for the home I was looking to start building. She said sure!
So here we are.
The kapok tree is magical, so I have to use my Yondalla blessed axe to cut it, but that feels right somehow. It’s going to make this whole project very special to me, and to Fog.
Which, speaking of, I should get back to it. I hope you’re all doing well. Give Merla a hug from me.
All our love,
Marto, Fog, Fionn & Gwenaël
