They has been living a strange life for some time now, being mere inches tall in a world measured in feet. Why it's measured in feet in a world where there is such a range in foot size is a different question.
They arrives back to where they're staying currently to find a note left for them, sized appropriately, less than the size of a stamp. Which is also something you can do with a foot. Intriguing, but ultimately coincidental.
The note reads as follows, in a steady hand without particular grace to it.
"If you tire of this form, you could yet be restored, but only by my hand. I have an offer for you and, I suspect, it's one you will not refuse. I have a certain precious object of mine which needs returning to me, of sentimental value, an acorn. Take the token provided with this note and drop it into the fountain which memorialises the Lassitude in Daring Heights along with your friends, and you will be taken to where the acorn has been itself taken.
Retrieve this, return to Daring Heights, and you shall be restored, our business concluded, perhaps never to cross paths again. Refuse, and learn to appreciate the world from this lower angle."
A large coin (large for They, small for a coin, perhaps the size of a toe of a medium sized human with average sized feet. Like an inch or something.) rests beside the note.
