“To right an ancient wrong, to put a weight back on the scale, to remind the courts that change comes and comes again. To give back a voice to a place that’s been silent all these years.”
Those words in Elvish rang through Yinmaris’ mind, they were too specific to not be something. As he sat in his room thinking on what had happened he felt the certainty from Calla as she spoke those words, and they weren’t like when Corellon spoke through him after that. Those words were Calla’s of that he was certain. Could Calla have really had a part in Merla’s assassination attempt? That would be a perfect way to make a court change. By killing it’s heart, or at least putting the heart into a slumber.
Maybe the excursion was a distraction to make things worse. If Calla really was a part of conspiracy then had he aided her by teaching her Elvish. So he’d helped with what happened to Merla. His rage bubbled up in realising she had asked him to teach her Court of Harmony terms in their Elvish lessons and he’d offered some Court of Summer idioms as well.
Calla played into the Winter Court or the Lord of the Hunt’s hands if she was a free agent. If her plans were to make sure there was a change she had done the opposite, hostilities between Winter and Summer felt like the most standard part of the Feywild. Harmony was the way forward, not destruction or disorder. She hadn’t made a change, she'd just helped bring back the usual cycle. What a perfect pawn for Winter to use, someone who thinks they’re outsmarting all others but does everything needed.
“Are you done?”
Those words spoken with two voices, each with the same anger, his own and his mother's. He didn't feel guilty saying those words to Calla which he may have done months or weeks ago even but Calla's actions angered him greatly. That silence to think on whatever Calla was thinking felt like someone trying to find the right lie to appease or manipulate others just right. Maybe Calla would get on with his family Yinmaris thought to himself.
It was interesting meeting Shulen, at least it gave Calla and himself something to agree on, even for just a moment. He would not go on a crusade of vengeance, it would betray Merla and there was no way he would do that to her, not ever. As long as the promise lives so does she. Although the idea that the Lord of the Hunt was under the employ of Asmodeus himself gave the eladrin a chill through his spine.
"Gods I'm such an idiot, I was acting like her bloody bodyguard. Trying to prove myself as a competent adventurer." He mumbles to himself in embarrassment and frustration.
He looks to the reliquary, open to let the moonlight touch the silken fabric. He smiles towards the holy item, Corellon actually spoke through him.
"It's foolish to think that Stone is silent"
Yinmaris needed context, he'd heard Calla's words about wrongs to right and the word Stone from Corellon felt vital in the response. Maybe a motive, the thing that links everything.
This wasn't the time to write the letter to Merla, he couldn't do that to Calla without proof. It's best to figure things out first, gather evidence either way.
Yinmaris sighs in frustration, resting his head in his hands. "Creator, I hope I'm wrong about Calla."
