On a carefully folded piece of parchment kept tucked in a spellbook there is neat writing, kept small to preserve both ink and paper…
—
Went to a grand party. Nobility are very odd. Minor Illusion is very useful. Safire is very resourceful.
—
Doing small carpentry jobs while seeing more of the city. I used to be a trader, why haven’t I walked the roads to see more of the local area?
—
Left Daring Heights by way of the Swamp Gate. It is nice to be out in the open again.
—
Got a messenger pigeon directing me to New Hillborrow. Were transported to the feywild to guide hatchlings to Court. So many different colors!
Learn to make shoes? Apparently it is hard to find ones for non-human feet in the Dawnlands
—
Dr. Archie let me learn Comprehend Languages from him, and while I was there told me much about familiars. I’d seen them mentioned but nothing on how to get one or much on why. Dr. Archies companions were shocked I didn’t know the spell! I learned Find Familiar too, and several days later conjured one for myself. I haven’t worked much with Otus yet, but it does offer more options on adventures.
In the margin there is a quick sketch of a screech owl.
—
Despite previous warnings about the fey, I went to the Court of Harmony with Mittens, Keros and a couple others. It felt more muted then the Court of Dragons, like a stagnant summer day. We went to the Wandering Court to ask for assistance. We got it, but the River King, Ulorian, is not someone I want to spend much time with, I HATE people calling me a lizard!
Did not take any fey trinkets. Mittens and I were left to care for the other three who where excessively drunk when we finished.
—
Continued exploring beyond Daring Heights, this time to Ft. Ettin. An interesting building. Got asked to investigate a mystery in the forrest. Found a small market where a metal witch (they seemed to roll, and had six arms!) showed us a murdered red cap that had been found. In the end it was a bad marketing ploy, but we got paid.
—
After learning Invisibility I thought it would be helpful to see others with the same trick. I tested it briefly, but realized I can’t tell if someone is invisible unless I know they aren’t supposed to be there, and in a city full of people I don’t.
I did see a mote that at first I thought was a small swarm but seemed to be eyes, arranged like a large orb weaver or a small tarantula. I could have sworn they winked?! I tried to follow them as they floated off, but then the spell ended. I wonder what else is unseen around this place?
—
I want to learn more skills. Perhaps Dr. Archie’s friend Mendal will be willing to teach me smithing?
(Covering the events in The Baron’s Return, Sing Out Louise!, Riverside, Thorp, Parked and the intervening downtime)
