If One Could Pause Time?
I recently visited two locations on a plane unfamiliar to me, where time was either paused, or where the Plane existed outside of time.
One of the locations was an inn. I was reminded of my demiplane that sits somewhat outside of my usual reality here on the Material Plane. The demiplane, however, does not sit outside of time. The innkeeper says the inn became a location outside of time as part of a deal made by his wife. The deal made was that the innkeeper will welcome those in need of respite outside of their usual environment to make decisions for as long as they need. I inferred that the trade in his favour was immortality.
Would I be allowed to continue my research and the majority of my days in the Inn? I suspect not. But if I could, it would seem I would have all the time I needed to perfect; my potion of longevity, clones, or any route to improve longevity and healthspan.
For the moment, cloning is my plan for extending my lifespan and hence the time in which I have to reach a breakthrough in my research.
If One Could Read One’s Own Story?
I am not sure what magic it was from Rosemary’s book that allowed us to read chapters of the lives of two individuals we were meeting in different stages of their lives. Divination, but also the elusive Chronomancy seemed to be involved, especially within the library and hexagonal room with many doors.
How does such magic work? Would I be able to read the eventual success of my work, if I could find a book of my life? Of course, this all assumes I do in fact achieve success in my work worthy enough of being written about. If I did, to think how much sooner I might be able to implement my work, if I could shortcut my way to the end by plagiarising my future self!
Post Adventuring Medical and Magical Checks
One thing I have learned recently, and like my longevity work it may be costly to implement community-wide, is that adventurers can return from missions with not just physical injuries that need treatment, but magical, dangerous curses too. Greater post-care would be ideal.
If not for the happenstance encounter of the cleric Tayz while accompanying Rosemary on an excursion, Sterling (who we also encountered haphazardly) may have been victimised by a devilish curse for much longer than he was already suffering. Tayz himself was under the effects of a magical influence, which without Rosemary’s far quicker reactions with the Counterspell spell than I, would have resulted in a horrifying disaster in the city. Crow, the other adventurer I met the other day, I suspect may have suffered a magical horror of some kind. I suspect he has aged magically like myself. I must press him on this subject, but the man is nothing if not cryptic when engaged in conversation.
With all these problems, I wish to recommend to Daring Council that all returning adventurers submit themselves to medical and magical checks for their own safety. Spell Duelists post spectacle too!
