“Well seems like your young mentee did a pretty good job for his first delivery run Beets.”
“Too flittin’right he did Diana! The weekend morning delivery run for Paradise Frost can be a buggin’tough one, but Zaspar was keen to prove himself-and to have some more of Jorvoius’ muffins! He’s got good taste.”
“Say speaking of muffins, you took a muffin basket to that, what was it, ‘Kantas Mentorship Program Day’ didn’t you? Is that how you both bonded-over your mutual love of muffins?”
“Ha ha there was more to it that just muffins Diana! We had to protect an ‘humble-tavern’ against a horde of blood thirsty attackers. Share our vast-honed adventuring knowledge to help the young adventuring fledglings choose the right tactics to face off against the ferocious beasts. Use our skills and cunning to negotiate a appropriate fee with the wily quest giver! Oh and we fought a big zombified wyrm thing and some skeletons.”
“Bu-but non of it was ‘real’ right? It was a ‘Training-quest’ like that one you went on when you first arrived at Fort Ettin: Storming the lair of the Evil Arch-Jen: Powerful Dragon Warlock Empress-right?”
“Oh yeah-it was all painted boards and pulleys in the made up tavern!” But the wyrm was real. I especially knew that after I ‘beet-dazzled’ it by smashing it over the head with Zaspar’s magic lapis camel statue. Trust me-Rotting flesh and gem rhinestones isn’t a good combination, look or smell!
“Uh-huh, and you fought it’s undead victims too. That doesn’t sound a very ‘beginner-friendly’ adventure in my opinion Beets. Just how many mentees were there?”
“Only two. Oh and Ronkk, though he’s a pretty strong guy anyway. Need to remember to introduce him to Kavel sometime.”
“Oh yes..Ronnk, such a sweetie. So, what made you decide to pick Zaspar to mentor?”
“Well actually, he chose me. Said he’d liked my energy and was impressed with how I’d brought you guys together and well…”
“Awh Beets are you blushing?”
“W-well I just didn’t think I was going to be mentoring anybody. The idea was nice, but that Yuan-ti archaeologist Dee’arana seemed a bit too book smart for me-much more Calla’s speciality-and I was sure a bard like Zaspar would go for someone more musically-inclined like Ronk or Felix.”
“Well I think Zaspar couldn’t have been luckier than to get you as a mentor. You’re super buggin-strong, heart-warmingy kind, acrobatically and aerially super-talented-
“Diana ha ha! Stop it!! Bug!..”
“Ha ha alright, but don’t go doubting yourself again alright? You’ve got plenty things you can teach Zaspar.”
“Alright, thanks.
You know you forgot to add ‘Over-whelmingly and outgoingly generous’-I did bring you all back each one those limited-edition plushies.”
“Oh yes-the ‘Somethings’…You,um really didn’t have to ya know…That cookie with the eyes instead of chocolate chips-Urgghh!”
“Heh yeah ‘Something Sweet’-buggin’freaky little fella. Perfect for spooking Jer though.”
“AAARRGGH!!!"
“Hahhaha!”
"Be-Beets!!-Diana!! That creepy cookie is in my bed again!! I-I swear if it ends up in it one more time I’m tossing it in the fire!”
’N-now Jer don’t go doing a flittin’thing like that! After all, it may be a collectors item one day-mgmphahaha!
