Queen Merla, the Sun-Blessed, intrepidsocks, and 1 more like this
Post by Yinmaris on Jun 26, 2024 21:29:30 GMT
"All I wanted was to get some fucking eclairs" Yinmaris grumbles to himself as he slumped onto his bed, now behind closed door he removes his gloves to look upon the crow brand "Damn that librarian and that adventurer party he talked about, now I'm stuck with this."
He gets up and moves onto his desk chair, pushing through his tiredness. The amount of cooking he had to do after that adventure exhausted him but he felt a compulsion to write before he could trance, after all it's best to write it down while it's still fresh in one's memory.
Yin finally puts pen to paper with a new journal entry for his new investigation:
The morning after Yinmaris begins writing a letter for Queen Merla. After the first twelve drafts many of which were supposed to be finals, just oddly it looked like he was repeating things a bunch which is probably nothing, he completed his 13th version.
The 13th and final draft of the letter sent to Queen Queen Merla, the Sun-Blessed with the message on an outer envelope "For when Her Majesty, the Daughter of Summer awakens":

His name is the One and Many
His number is thirteen, his beast is the crow, his liquid is ink and his metal is gold
His cults are the Thirteen Watchers, he will rewrite the world anew, he is the changer and changed
Maybe Crow may know. It is a curse, ybe Crow may know so the curse is sentient but I haven't tried chatting with it.
He has a 13 cults of 13 cults of Watchers, if I can find One of them maybe they can tell me more about the One and the Many. With that Many people it shouldn't be hard to find One rd to find One. This is weird I don't feel too different there aren't Many new developments with myself I think other than reading One of my favourite poems bores me now, One of my favourite poems I was reading bores me now but other than that there aren't Many developments and I don't feel too different which is weird. Maybe in learning of the others we can learn about learn about him.
Possible Leads:
The previous adventuring party and the missing creature
All the curses are sentient can they converse? y converse?

Your Majesty,
I hope you are recovering well.I write to you with the knowledge of a new group of entities whom it feels appropriate to call them the Ones. This information was learned as myself and Mittens were frankly forceably taken by a pentadrone from the plane of Mechanus while not ready for adventuring,I was getting some food from the market but I walked past it and we both got picked up very literally.
We were taken to a bookshop called the House of Infinity. We stopped resisting eventually as it turned out the Daring Council emphatically wished for us to assist Mechanus in dealing with their troubles as they were caused by adventurers previously. We were then taken to Mechanus via a book teleporter to the library, the actual House of Infinity.
There we were greeted by a mechanical being called Librarian who told us due to a previous adventuring party that did not catch a creature, which subsequently caused anomolies within the library there was a significant imbalance within the library. Apparently there is every possible variant of any possible book and only these Librarians can comprehend them. That was until some books manifested out of the blue in the library causing an imbalance in there. When asking him questions like how Many there were the librarian stated there were five.
We agreed to assist, although part of me has some regret in doing so now. The first One was a book that we found in a room, it then went from One book it divided into Many. I tried to figure out if it was an illusion by casting some magic detection, all the books gave off divination, abjuration and illusion magic. Which I found odd as One should have all three but logically the rest would show illusion magics. As I was investigating this three others, Yearu, Ronkk andSterling were all under some kind of trance. But as I picked up the book the three entranced adventurers woke up, with no way to discern what this was I checked the front of the book which gave the title "The One and the Many".
As picking up One of them didn't work and the magics we had available didn't work I opened the book to see if there was a solution within. This was an error, as soon as I did I saw a block of text that just in case I shall not share in this letter till I know more, I was cursed and branded with a crow with 13 eyes on my right palm. It is very powerful, to the point it counterspelled Mittens attempt at curse removal with sentience. According to the others an entity wished for a secret from the three entranced adventurers, which they obliged as otherwise they would not be free.
As you can probably tell by now as there were five books and five adventurers, we are each branded with a seperate entity. Cruelly I was unable to prevent Mittens from being branded as any attempt to do the process of opening the book my brand/curse compelled me to stay away and if we didn't do this then frankly the Librarian wouldn't have brought us back from Mechanus. Mittens was branded with a rat king brand.
Yearu seemed to not have changed from his brand but I have only just met him so cannot tell. He actually tried bringing up a solution of One clean cut but I felt there had to be Many a better way to solve the situation. Ronkk got a rather ghastly sounding One from the descriptive paragraph, the brand was that of a three headed oxen.Sterling had the most ironic and also frankly disadvantageous brand as it was a rather ominous wolf devouring a planet but once we returned to the material plane we discovered that his ability to speak was gravely reduced, to uttering one or two syllable words. As for the cruel irony, Sterling is a very competent artificer and his brand is clearly associated with nature.
All these sentient curses have associated numbers, beasts, liquids and metals. Interestingly, from what we can discern despite the House of Infinite containing every possible book the five books we discovered were anomolous in more ways than holding sentient living curses. They apparated from basically thin air, there is no other information the Librarian could find on this group of beings and the Librarians are unable to actually see the books as they used to. The weirder thing is the library has extraplanar incursions all the time but they can easily be dealt with, it was very odd to the Librarian which was concerning to say the least.
Additionally they each had some method of defense mechanism, except the boar one which I think may be due to Yearu just picking it up before it could work it'ss magics. I currently have one of the books in my possession due to the Librarian's insistance that we take the books with us. Each of us took the book that coresponded to the brand we recieved.
I do plan on investigating who these beings are as from what I've heard they seem to have a certain darkness to them, I do not know whether I should remove this brand as it makes sense that if I do that then the brand will be free to find another and work on bringing about their nefarious end. I promised you in our pact that I would guard against the dark and I feel that in removing the curse I would free a darkness into the world especially when my curse has a paragraph that mentions remaking the world. If my time in Kantas has told me that seems to be regular enough as it is so finding out what we're dealing with before even considering the curse's removal is my current plan.
We did admittedly have a slight incident which was caused by a bit of annoyance as we were given less gold considering the curses we were given. I tried to deescalate as Sterling threatened a clerk in a monosyllable rage that I have not seen outside of Summer back home with what he called an arcane firearm before his verbal deficiency occurred as we left. The attempt did not work as it led to the clerk being more confused. In hindsight I should probably have tried calming Sterling but I barely knew the gentleman.
After all of this I took everyone over to my apartment that Mittens and Ronkk also reside, I made a large quantity of food for everyone. Concerningly, Mittens had a very large appetite, to the point he didn't get full after devouring a trays of food. I think the effects are now being seen, I do not know exactly how I am being affected except I've found some of my writing has become more repetitive but I tried to hold off on that regard in this letter, it has taken multiple attempts thus far.
I have been thinking a lot about our pact in your slumber, and I think it has helped me become a better me than I thought I could be. I just wanted you to know that, I don't think I said it enough and I wanted to say with all my heart thank you Your Majesty. Your absence is felt, but be assured Raine and I have a plan to aid in your recovery from what has happened, a plan we are endeavouring to complete as quickly as we can. Also, in this mission to cure your malady we do plan on sowing seeds of Harmony by fostering new friendships as well as cultivating existing ones to hopefully allow for Harmony to resonate throughout the Feywilds as tension continue to rise.
May your music be filled with joy and may your Song of Harmony be heard throughout the Planes.
Yours in service,
Yinmaris Iathrana
