The thread unspools from Henri's hands, shimmering silver in the midday sun that creeps in through his window in the Four Fair Winds. It pulls taut, reaching a point as far from him as possible before yanking to the side, moving from point to point until a many-pointed star begins to take shape.
The last of the thread falls from his hand, finding a place for itself in the star, and he steps back. The edge of the circle is jagged, but the continual back and forth has created an inner circle made of many tangents. He reaches down to pluck one of the taut threads, and the entire circle thrums - the note is soothing, like a whisper in one's ear.
Content, he takes a step back. He squeezes in his hand the vial that he paid so much to obtain, and speaks the words, pouring his will into bringing someone from There to Here.
Henri pours his will into the spell, and as he watches, a mote of silver light begins to bounce along the threads that he laid out. As the spell continues, more and more motes bounce along the threads until it seems like it is made of the same sliver light. Slowly the thread lifts and twists together in the air to form the simple shape of a door facing Henri.
The door also begins to shine and starts to shift as it splits into three identical doors which all open as three figures emerge before Henri.
The first that appears bows to Henri, "I am Kazus The Saber and I heed your call."
The second also bows, "I am Malroth The Observer and I heed your call."
The third gives a small curtsy "I am Setharan The Whisperer and I heed your call."
Henri bows in turn, a hand on his chest and another splayed out behind him. "I am honoured that three such as yourselves would answer my call. To whom do I owe my thanks? Or are we all siblings under Pantos?"
They all laugh in unison at this statement, Malroth doubling over in half and Setharan laughing so hard she goes silent.
Kazus is the first to respond, "We under Pantos, I think not. You can refer to us as Aunt and Uncles, as whom you can thank for our presence I advise you get a mirror for that one, it was your call that we heard and decided to answer and offer our assistance."
After wiping a tear away from their face Malroth then continues, "It was your conviction and your will that summoned us and it was you alone. Do not doubt yourself Henri, you are more capable then you let yourself believe."
"You have the potential for great things if you apply yourself and don't linger in the shadows of others." Setharan says.
Henri reasserts himself, having fallen on his back foot at the sudden outburst of laughter. He chuckles to himself too, shaking his head. "Well then, when the time comes for such great things, I will be sure to ask for your assistance. It is good to know that I have such capable family in my corner."
Setharan is the first to speak, "Oh you have many of The Infinite in your corner never doubt that. You are, despite how you many act in front of others, a kind and caring person and that means a lot to the family."
It is Malroth next, "You know how to summon us now and we will be honoured to help you in whatever manner it is that you require us."
Kazus is the last to speak, "Do you require anything of us now or may we take our leave?"
Henri nods in thanks to them each in turn. "No, this was all. I wished only to know who would answer when I called. I expect it won't be long before I call for your help once again, but until then, please be well."
He hadn't realized he'd been holding his breath in, but as the three depart Henri finally relaxes. His shoulders slump, and with a deep breath in, his fist curls around the platinum vial, and he grins.
