Queen Merla, the Sun-Blessed and Andy D like this

Yinmaris walked into his room bedraggled and tired after two days with very little sleep, especially after the events of the previous day. Watching Mittens being targeted by the shadows and Cassandra, then seeing Robin die in front of him. It was the first time he had seen someone he knew and got on with, even considered a friend, be killed in any of the adventures he'd been on. Now away from Mittens, he slumped down on his bed resting his head in his hands.
The dark tidings that were foretold by Cassandra rang in his head. Something far more powerful than even the gods and archfey was coming, and from the fight last night it was nothing good and it was dark. Something powerful enough to create servants that can tear down a consecration piece by piece to the point that after 7 nights the shadow beings and the horrifying creature of darkness that seemed to lead them.
"You can't fight something like that with a tired mind, the clerics in the church showed that." Yinmaris pondered.
"Come on time to rest Yin." he muttered to himself, before going to sleep with the curtains open. He wanted that midday sun's light to be around him for this rest.
Letter to Queen Queen Merla, the Sun-Blessed :
As Yinmaris puts the letter to the side to let the ink dry he heads towards the kitchen and opens the oven, making sure to let any trapped hot air escape before kneeling down to see how the batches of baked goods are doing. With a smile and a nod he grabs some oven mitts after putting on an apron, he picks up the two trays and places them on the stove to cool. He'd timed it so no one would be home, last time Levkoi nicked a cupcake or five so he was never clear about that. While the baked goods cool he works on getting each of the different icings mixed before putting each into seperate pipers distinct with different colours and piping nozzles. Baking was an art in a way and that meant it was something a bard could choose at least try to master after all.
Once the cookies and cupcakes were ready he placed them into a gift box with a paper divider down the middle. On the left hand side he carefully places the cupcakes making sure they would not be squashed in transport into circles that held the cakes in place till someone wished to eat them, on the right he placed the cookies into three smaller boxes that fit perfectly into the section of the larger gift box. After wrapping the gift box he places the letter on top of the box before heading to the Feylight Gardens Theatre.

Letter to Queen Queen Merla, the Sun-Blessed :
Your Majesty,
I hope this letter reaches you well. I thought I would sent this letter to you at my earliest convenience as I feel the information from a very recent adventure would be of great import to you. I was a part of a group comprising of Mittens McKittens, Robin Montajay, Chartreuse Lechance, Marto Copperkettle, Marto's entrepid squire Fionn and myself. The job seemed like a simple one, a chapel of Lathander had closed it's doors and the preists within were shouting "only light can halt the darkness, but light is finite and the dark is always waiting" . Naturally the Daring First saw this and thought it was a perfect job for adventurers.
As we set off we all made sure we were kitted out, including making sure that we had enough food for duration of the quest which both Marto and I seemed to take very seriously. It was the first time I have seen someone bring a wicker basket of food to a job and it was very refreshing to see.
The journey to the chapel was pretty simple as it was very close to Daring Heights, upon getting there we saw a large group of villagers protesting outside on the chapels closure as well as one figure holding a sign saying "The End is Nigh". Marto's familiar managed to sneak up to the chapel and saw that the clerics and preists were still up and about, one thing of note as well were a series of dark claw marks that seemed to be necrotic in nature. I used stealth to get up to the chapel to use my Fey sense to see if there were any feinds, undead or celestials as well as associated magics like Hallow. I found that the grounds were hallowed but that something seemed to be weakening from some kind of assault which suggested a malevolent force of some power. At this point the group went to disperse the locals who were more annoyed that they couldn't go to services, there was one person that stayed around. An older women that held the "The End is Nigh" placard, she told us that her name was Cassandra. Worryingly Mittens recognised her from another disturbing quest involving a temple and an encroaching Death Knight.
As we talked with her she started talking in a very ominous tone about how the gods are powerless compared to some unknowable dark entity she would not name, she also threatened Mittens possibly due to past interactions so I was ready to protect him. It seemed clear that she was involved but before we could probe her further she disappeared, it was not teleportation magics of any kind nor illusion magics just she was there one moment and then nothing the next. After that disturbing event we knocked on the chapel door to help the clerics who it seemed were being besieged by possibly Cassandra and other entities.
We managed to persuade the people within to let us in, it was clear they were truly exhausted after days of very little sleep. We then found out that the reason for the church emitting a bright light was that shadowy creatures were attacking them, these beings seemed to be able to use dark areas to teleport and attacked ferociously according to the preists. We didn't know how right they were. To help them rest we told them we would help protect them and defeat these creatures, they were naturally very happy with this. We let them have some of our questing rations including Paradise Frost cupcakes I had brought and Marto's amazing basket of food. Additionally, Marto's squire Fionn provided some very necessary morale support that brought them great comfort.
Before the priests rested we made a plan for a very likely fight to come as dusk approached. They would create a spell to create powerful sunlight while we protected them. It seemed like a good plan but as they say a plan never survives contact with the enemy. Chartreuse spotted the shadowy assassins and we got ready, the fight started well, it seemed as though we would have a simpler victory but then a large horror composed of darkness appeared inside the room. It got a lot moredangerous after that, some of the priests were knocked out by some necrotic attack the huge thing made through a scream I think. We were able to fight back and deal with that with great effort from everyone but by then the assassin shadows had entered at this point.
Luckily I think Chartreuse and Levkoi, Mittens' fey ally he summons frequently, were handling the shades near the main entrance but on the other side near the altar as the rest of us were fighting we heard Cassandra's voice ring out and then the shades turned their attention to Mittens with the intent to at least kill him. I do not know why he was targetted other than the previous encounter with Cassandra and what I assume are either her allies or servants. Robin, Marto and myself were able to get in to fight the shades before they could harm Mittens any further but it came at a cost. As Marto and I worked together to kill two of the beings by targeting one at a time, Robin was bravely fighting one by himself as Mittens understandably retreated as he would have been killed otherwise. As Marto fought another shade with his powerful warrior magics I went to assist Robin who had been weakened painfully by one of our foes by trying to split the attention of the monster as I had fey stepped behind it as it was fighting Robin. I thought I was helping but it wasn't enough,Robin fell as one of them had drained his strength fully, he was dead. It was the first time I have seen a friend or even someone I care about die, he was right in front of me and I couldn't help him. It is honestly the most powerless I've ever felt.
At that moment, I was in shock then I felt a great anger that seemed to burn within that I then used the emotion to channel my magics. It was not the healthiest thing but the moment was so raw, in doing so I seem to have injured myself slightly but I'd destroyed the thing that murdered Robin so I'm okay with a few bruises from it. Luckily Chartreuse was able to get there quickly harness some magics from home and halted Robin's demise for at leat a bit. After getting home to Daring Heights Chartreuse spectacularly used some revivification magics to bring Robin back, which is amazing as I truly feel that he is someone who's absence would make the world's light dim.
My main reason for writing to you is that I wished to bring you attention to this seemingly encroaching darkness and Cassandra as it does feel as there is now a threat to not only this plane but to any that hold the light dearly.
May your Song carry throughout the planes and your days be filled with perfect harmonies.
Yours in Service,
Yinmaris Iathrana
P.S. please find attached a fresh batch of a flower cupcakes with a different flavour profiles for each different flower type I emulated using the icing ass well as some chocolate chip cookies I made with honey instead of sugar. I'm getting into cooking as of late and these are some of my newest creations, I hope you enjoy them and I hope even with the more worrying report in my letter that at least the baked goods could bring some joy. I also wanted to give you the gift, freely given naturally, to give my thanks for your continued patronage.
