Rakhir hails from a wizardly lineage of some renown but has rejected his heritage after witnessing as a child his parents destroyed in an elemental summoning gone horribly wrong.
As an orphan, he joined an order of warriors charged with protecting the priestly caste in his city - hoping that the gods would keep him from his family's fate. The delicate political balance, however, made it impossible for this order to take him in, and so he was eventually asked to return to the wizardly caste. He chose instead to reject the gods and now lives as a wanderer righting wrongs wherever he finds them, believing that fate lies squarely in man's hands alone.
His usual travelling companion, another tragic nobleman, was recently called away, leaving Rakhir in need of company and foes to vanquish.
Rakhir now feels a darkness threatening to consume him, and fears there may be no hope of escape. He has rejected his pure magical birthright, choosing instead the path of a warrior to escape his fate in this way. Those who look into his eyes can see that he has faced unimaginable horror and that he is no stranger to darkness.
