The following report is written in a mix of common, symbols, elvish, infernal, goblin and draconic, and is kept secured in an Infernal Puzzle Box.
ASSIGNMENT REPORT #47
People of the Dawnlands:
Wren Lunaboult – scout/holy warrior, aasimar (scourge), non-binary; pets: Stripes (badger), Beans (white fox), Percival (awakened hyena), Peppy (pigeon)
Jaezred Vandree – mage (pact magic, patron: the Moonweaver), noble, drow, male; Velve (black widow spider familiar)
Veridian Pentaghast – mage, human, male; homunculus companion, Paraceleus… (I’ve lost count to be honest)
Laurel Shortstride – nature cleric/mage, halfling, non-binary; pet goat, Poppy
The Notice:
None. Recruitment done by Wren after receiving a sending from Cassima Okt’Anys’.
The Job:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that if you are an adventurer in the Dawnlands you have some form of family drama — and it will try to take you out.
Lunaboult called and the friends they’ve made who are quite proficient in taking care of such Problems answered.
Their grandmother was the one that hunted them. Had been for a long time, apparently. It came up briefly when we were both assisting Mace with his business venture in Port Ffirst but now, after having met the woman I can say she was a nasty piece of work. A paladin of Talos — enemy of Ilmater, Wren’s chosen affiliation — did not like it when mother dearest ran away to join the Moon Maidens of Selûne. Wren is sure their gran does not like their father but other than that, it all really boiled down to one simple thing: Granny did not have control over Wren, their mother, nor their sister and that would not do! Not at all.
But as said above, running away only gets one so far. Sooner or later trouble comes knocking and wants to pick up where things were left off.
For a brief moment there was the old, “Join me or die,” gambit. That didn’t play out.
Then there was the whole granny attempting to bring Hell Knights to the Prime Material. These are fun to fight but would become an annoyance if left unchecked.
Suffice to say, reasons enough for any one of Wren’s allies, myself included, were given to be by their side, to end this once and for all.
And so Wren did.
They got a great cloak out of it.
I wonder how Mace’s business is doing these days…
