A Reliable Fund Acquisition Activity - Help Collector Procure Rare Item
People who have wealth to fund their own private collections, also tend to pay very well for jobs they advertise. I am very much looking for adventuring jobs that pay well, in order to fund my research into longevity. Collectors and other wealthy individuals; they are my target clients.
Thena, a client of a recent adventure, is a collector of weapons who resides in Marray of K’ul Goran. She required adventurers to find the Infinitely Folded Sword, once wielded by a monstrous criminal, Damian, who was given the name, ‘The Annihilator of Hope.’
Thena wished to acquire Damian’s sword to fit into her collection, not only as a unique weapon for her collection, but also to keep it securely out of reach of evil-doers. Thena’s motivation to secure the sword is admirable and given her background, rather understandable. Thena is a very well known warrior and hero of K’ul Goran. A living-legend. Thena, an aerotaur native of Marray, has a recognisable title herself, ‘The Hurricane of Marray.’
Thena had worked very hard acquiring the sword-like keys to Damian’s Mausoleum’s hidden chambers, as well as simply locating the resting place itself. Thena had employed another group prior to hiring my party. However, it was unfortunately the case that this other group were secretly cultist worshippers of Damian.
Damian, as it happened, despite residing in a sarcophagus, was functionally alive in two ways - both of which were magical, and neither of which I would consider as suitable for inclusion in my longevity protocols. Firstly, Damian’s spirit had a ghostly agency in his crypt. Secondly, his skeletal remains had agency to wield his great-sword as if still alive. Both wielded immense, dangerous power.
Perhaps, as a drastic solution to longevity, Damian’s methods could be pursued. If for example, no significant success had been made with my chosen longevity modalities, then Damian’s methods could present an extended opportunity to further my research. However, if one were to pursue the Damian method, one must pick one's assistants very carefully. Damian’s followers have mostly all died from traps Damian had set up in his crypt to weed out the less capable. I do not wish to mock those recently killed, nor the remaining followers who have been captured by the local men-at-arms. However, one and only one matter in which I find myself agreeing with the ‘Annihilator of Hope’ is that his followers were lacking in aptitude.
Having secured Damian’s great-sword for Thena, she rewarded each member of the party with 200gp. This sum now means I have reached the funding necessary for the Clone spell… but not much else. Further employment is still required. To avoid spending further gold (gold I do not presently have) I shall endeavour to master the Clone spell not by learning from a colleague’s spellbook, but the longer way, so to speak.
I would be very willing to accept further employment from Thena of Marray. Not simply for the gold with which she rewards task completion, but also another matter. While Damian has no longevity method I wish to examine, ‘The Hurricane of Marray,’ however, is a very long-lived aerotaur/minotaur of 108 years old. She came across to me as a fully cognisant, and well-abled 108 year old. There must be something to gain from her concerning a long lifespan and long healthspan.
The Ideal Medicine Vector
Medicine can literally be a hard pill to swallow.
Where possible, it is desirable to give the patient any medicine, physical procedure, or surgery necessary with the minimum amount of risk or discomfort. Often of course, emergencies require drastic solutions, and medicinal interventions, where possible, should be accompanied by a spoonful of sugar to ease the discomforting taste of ‘what’s good for you’.
I would envision that whatever life-extending solution I can come up with, will face the time old problem of not being to the patient’s palette.
My colleague, Boosya, an elderly and wonderfully peaceful cleric, has her own solution to the problem of ‘what’s good for you’ not tasting great; I’ve noticed a number of her constitution fortifying magic is often delivered in the form of an ingestible substance - cake.
If future longevity solutions could be ingested as cake, I daresay longevity solutions will have a 100% uptake rate.
Rapid Onset Age Progression Through Time Manipulation Has Affected More Victims
The six years I have physically advanced due to my time spent in the Plane of Time has been noticed by several people now. Shockingly it has been revealed to me that Orianna and I have not been the only victims of rapid onset age progression amongst the adventuring community.
Anåbæl, my multi-talented colleague who resides in Port Ffist, has experienced a most peculiar form of rapid onset age progression. One of young Anåbæl’s hands has aged dramatically independently of the rest of her body. When I enquired as to how this happened, she mentioned having to risk placing said hand in a magical effect, which she learned was affecting the passage of time within its reach. Her account of the magical effect sounded very similar to the Plane of Time.
It now seems, that while I have my own selfish reasons to pursue a reversal of the Plane of Time’s effects, more people than I realised could also do with the same solution. I should double my efforts.
Points of Interest for Further Enquiry
Conjuration Magic - I have recently mastered the Creation spell. Though the minute-long casting spell does not produce permanent objects of non-living organic, or non-organic matter; it is nevertheless tremendously useful. Depending on how creative one is with the Creation spell, you might find the spell provides a solution to many problems. Say for example, when on adventures one sometimes finds oneself camping overnight in the wild, missing one’s bed. One need not miss one’s bed with the Creation spell, and 12 hours or permanence should suffice.
As impressed as I am by my own mastery of the Creation spell. I witnessed my young colleague, Raine create a functional, and aesthetically pleasing great-sword in ten times the speed I would have created one. Furthermore, her great-sword had the magical ‘dancing’ property, which is to say it could move and function, in this case attack, as if wielded by an invisible person. I daresay Raine’s creation would not vanish after twelve hours too. Raine’s magic was truly inspiring. I must enquire with her more about it.
Extreme Bodily Transformations - I have witnessed now for myself what my good friend Kavel first informed me about; Beets’ incredible bodily transformation when enraged. Beets already has beetle-like forms to her fairy-fey body, which I gather is quite unique. However, when enraged, further beetle forms appear on her body, such as a set of mandibles.
I was pleased to report back to Kavel that during the shocking transformation, Beets appeared to be fully in control. In Kavel’s experience, this was not fully the case. Either Kavel or I should enquire with young Beets’ how she is getting on with the unexpected transformations, which I previously understood were a subject of frustration and source of anxiety for her. Pleasingly, it seems she is coping well now.
