Coll steps up to the stage one evening as adventures share their latest stories and raises his hands for everyone to quieten down as he begins his tale.
"Now, everyone, I've been on a few adventures with some of you now, and I like to think I've contributed to the team.
This time though. This time I was completely useless, and I think it's time I accepted that I'm out of my league now.
So we were tracking down Lachlan's killer - the one who'd kidnapped Nariel, the lady who'd been trapped in a necklace. We found that the were-tribe had been decimated by Dragoloths, a demonic thing connected to this force. I'm not sure why they were a target, but they hadn't fared well. Cecil cared for them as best we could, and then headed back to Daring with Demik to do research on the problem. Meanwhile, the leader of the tribe told us that we needed to go to the Feywild to find the gnome murderer/kidnapper.
Varis swore he could locate the gnome, and he wasn't one to delude himself about things like that, so off we went. Then we bumped into Lachlan on the road talking to Leocanto. This was problematic, Lachlan being a pile of dust in a bag on Cecil's belt.
Fortunately it was just Miss Sunny Day playing another one of her tricks. Not a great way for Leocanto to find out his husband had died. But when we said we were tracking down Lachlan's killer, Leo didn't hesitate to join us, and neither did Lady Sunday.
And thank the gods they did.
The Feywild was lovely as ever, but our path took us into a swampy area not far from the Witchhold. Everyone seemed reluctant to stop by and see Granny, and I wasn't about to push the idea on everyone. A few Eladrin tried to warn us off the area, but we plunged in anyway.
It was not a great place, and it seemed to get to Leo, Sunday and Varis - they all seemed pretty jumpy the whole time we were in there. Anyway, we found a drow in a cage, but as we approached there was some chanting and stuff which seemed pretty spooky, so we decided to give the whole situation the laugh, as they say in Sigil, and move on with our lives.
This was possibly a mistake.
Eventually Varis led us to the gnome, hidden behind 3 barriers while he did some ritual with Nariel. A huge demon-drow creature jumped out at us and attacked.
And that's about as far as I know. Got grabbed and beaten by that thing and everything went black. I came to once or twice but more claws and fists just put me down again.
Didn't do a thing the whole battle.
As I understand it, everyone struggled to fight off 3 of these big things, while Leocanto worked on dismantling the barriers. The gnome fought back with some powerful magics, and managed to get off another of those horrendous dissolving rays, this time striking down Lady Sunday, vaporising her.
Somewhere in all of this, I'm told I died. I'm not completely sure, but it did feel strange. Maybe I was on my way to meet Kelemvor at last to be judged.
But that didn't happen, apparently the gnome was defeated, Nariel rescued and then reunited with... someone else? An archfey? I honestly have no idea. But they asked Leocanto what they would like as a reward, and bless that man if he didn't request the restoration of both myself and Lady Sunday.
I'll tell you this now, so all can here it - Leocanto drinks here for free.
So I'm back. We... won I think? But honestly, I think that's me done. I'm a member of the Town Council. I can't go running off on adventures anymore and getting killed. I've got a bar to tend, and I need to stick on this side of it.
Daisy, Varis, Leocanto, Lady Sunday, Lachlan, Demik, Cecil and everyone who has been on this mad ride around this necklace and mysterious forces - well done. We did well, and I raise my glass to you. Coll's adventuring days are done."
