The following report is written in a mix of common, symbols, elvish, infernal, goblin and draconic, and is kept secured in an Infernal Puzzle Box.
ASSIGNMENT REPORT #45
People of the Dawnlands: Oziah Daybreaker – divine warrior, aasimar (fallen), female; mount: Deimos (skeletal, fiend) Celina Zabinski – “apple shop owner” with roguish tendances, tiefling, female Jenna Archelson – human, draconic mage, Fort Ettin proprietor, female Maximus – human, noble, wanna be ambassador to the Grung Empire Kurtz – mage, adult shadow dragon (was once green), male, father
The Notice: None. Recruitment done by Jenna on the day for Maximus.
The Job: The fool of a noble was willing to pay big money for an escort to the ‘Grung Empire’ across the sea, south of the country of K’ul Goran, and we needed the gold in anticipation of the castle Daybreaker wishes to build.
Where it got interesting was upon our arrival. Apparently three nations of grung had been nearly wiped out to the point where, even combined, they barely formed one tribe. Which meant the great ‘Grung Empire’ was not as unified as our dear employer believed. In fact we ended up dealing with one one tribe of many.
The reason for their near complete removal from the map? A confrontation between a beholder and a gold dragon.
Turns out when a beholder gets completely obsessed with a dragon it can create it’s own monstrous version. Rather nasty thing. But fun to fight. Not so fun for the grung though. Of the seven that came with us to assist, only 2 survived – Poc, the outcast, and Ribrt, the chief and only mage.
Besides the gold, we were given a handy beholder eye, which I intend to make good use of in the coming weeks.
