Dejected, Henri slumps into one of the private booths at Gossamer Threads. He'd tried his best to gain access to the private tea rooms, but his arguments fell on deaf ears. And he'd tried his best to ask in the general tea rooms, but no matter who he asked, nobody could answer his questions.
Who are the beings in the Void of Nothingness that the Primordials Incarnate wish to reach?
What items do they have that the Primordials want so badly?
What items do they have that the Primordials want so badly?
Maybe I need to try the library. There's got to be a book, or somethi-
"Excuse me. May I join you?"
Suddenly, Henri finds himself joined by a rather interesting individual: a dragonborn with red scales that almost appear to be individual rubies that glitter and reflect the light in the little booth perfectly.
Without waiting for an answer, the dragonborn takes his seat across from Henri. "My name is Thromdax. I'm a merchant; I deal in the secrets and histories of old. And, I overheard your questions to the other patrons. I may have some information that would interest you.
"The beings that you're asking about are the Primordial Behemoths. Four pure manifestations of the elemental planes created by the Primordials in the Dawn War, when the Primordials fought the newly arisen Gods not long after the start of creation.
"The Behemoths were the Primordials' greatest weapon - until, at least, the Gods created the Archwyrms. Those first dragons banished the Behemoths from all of time and space.
"Now, if I had to hypothesize, I might say that it is unlikely that these Behemoths held any sort of items on themselves. However, if a similar being or beings of a similar nature, say, beings that are manifestations of the elemental planes themselves, were to obtain pieces of these Behemoths? They could likely use them to elevate themselves to a more powerful state. Or, maybe even become new Behemoths themselves."
Henri sits, confused at how quickly everything he'd been trying to learn is laid out in front of him. But before he can open his mouth to speak, Thromdax continues.
"Now, you must forgive me - I didn't realize the time, and I must depart." He stands, drawing his brilliant red jacket around him. "But, in case you do happen across one of these Behemoths. A souvenir would make an impressive collectible, if you could bring one back to me."
With that, as quickly as Thromdax appeared, he is gone, leaving Henri to reel from not only the information he'd received, but the implications of what was left unsaid.
Clearly, there is more to this story...
But who was that? How did they... know all of that?
