Buggin’heck I’d thought! I’d only gone and flittin’done it again!
It was bad a flittin’enough that I’d crashed buggin’hard after helping Derthaad with some Watch Business-less than flittin'hour after getting back from an emotionally exhasting visit to the Feywild for Kavel. Meaning I’d only found out from Jeremy the morning after, that I’d slept right through that flittin’Wild Hunt charging right through town-Lolli, Kavel, and Zola hot on their tail; or that Diana had seen Town Hall just ‘reappear’ and crash back to earth outta buggin’nowhere atop some illusion of itself, looking like it had taken a flit to the Hells and back-which apparently it had.
But to find out there wasn’t a single buggin’pastry left in Paradise Frost when I went to grab some for our trip to Dwirhian’s hometown Galavir with her sister the other morning?!
I’ve gotta buggin’stop sleeping indoors.
Sleeping in a hammock with no chance of waking with a delicious morning frost or the sun warming my bug scales, sleeping in far too flittin’late. Bug, I’m gonna wake up one day to find out I’ve turned into a house tabaxi at this rate! Kinda like that kitten I’d helped out with his crone of a landlady the other day; what was his name again? Bittens? Dittens?
Well any flittin’way, it turned out almost everyone had decided to surprise ‘me’ by grabbing pastries from Paradise Frost-with Derthaad even baking some pretty decent brownies for the trip-Seems my friends know me too well.
Thank buggin’goodiness too! If we’d had to eat that squashed sweat-soaked green frosting stained monstrosity I’d-spruced up-that had once been one of Booysa’s carrot cakes, I think Derthaad would’ve locked me up for crime’s against baking. Jorious won’t be letting me anywhere near the kitchen in Paradise Frost again anytime soon that’s for sure.
The first days travel was so flittin’hot I don’t remember much between wringing sweat of Diana’s loaned robes. The others tried to cool me down with spells and charms, but nothing seemed to work-maybe it has something to do with my beetle-half.
We stopped for lunch under a crispy looking tree that turned out to be home to a very dry’dryad named Silva when it bent down to slurp up Lolli’s cocktail. Seems her water source had stopped running and was playing havoc her complexion. She she gave Lolli a special..’stick’, that could apparently help us find the root-ha-of problem whilst on our way up into the Sunset Spines. Despite her dryness, she seemed a lot more friendly than those treants we’d dealt a couple week back-reminded me a bit of River actually, maybe those two should hook up sometime!
We spent the night in Lolli’s ‘magical’ candy-tower at the foothill of the Sunset spines. I made sure I checked in the little Fluff-bun after her ‘wild-ride’ with the hunt. She fine for it, more worried about me actually. That’s the thing with Lolli, she always seems to be able to bounce back from anything.
I wish I was as tough as her.
I woke Kavel up for a bit of ‘Hunting’ the next morning. , least that was the fib Pa always told when he just wanted to talk with me-seems Kavel knew that trick all too well. I admitted how of seeing him and Natalie together had made me think how my Ma and Pa must’ve looked. He somehow got Bogar and Gramp’s mixed up during our chat-urgh scary thought!
Flit. Guess I haven’t thought Gramps in a while though…I wonder what he did set out to do in the Feywild when we parted…Maybe Kavel’s right, I maybe I should try and find him.
Dwirhian was really interested in hearing about my Dragonic Lessons with Booysa over our foraged egg omelttes-though maybe she was just more interested in hearing about ‘The Sexy Serpent Sisters’ trilogy-flit’with a title like that and characters like Ykulth the Scary and Zymraliet the Gentle I guess you can’t help but be the tiniest bit buggin’curious, Lolli seemed completely mortified about her granny’s choice of teaching material though-she’s a spry one that Booysa.
We made a sightseeing stop on our way through the Spines at an old stone temple where Kavel had met his old were-wolf gym buddies from back at Fort Ettin.
There was a whole bunch of draconic curses echoing out of one of the stone-carved tunnels when we arrived-many of which I recognised from ‘The Serpent Sisters’. Kavel suggested if could perhaps be some Yuan-ti as they that had pitched up here before, but Dwir confirmed it would sound a lot more hissy-whilstI chipped in Yuan-ti taste horrible compared to dragons...I don’t buggin’know how I know that…
So-um-to sum up-we went into the temple, found a tubby Kobold named Riggs that tried to flog us some rocks, Kavel picked up a big rock that released a wave of water that nearly drowned us all and swept him off the cliff but didn’t! All good no need to dwell on knowing what snake people taste like-MOVING ON!!!
Galavir was a nice place I guess-with a strange obsession for turnips-it was surrounded by turnip fields-they even buggin’make their clothes outta’em. ‘Turnip-Weave’-heh!
I was a little worried when Lolli splashed out big time on a bug load to take back home-offering stories as part of her payment just seemed a little too ‘feywildian’ for my liking with everything that had happened recently. Dwir assured us though there were no threads attached-magical or otherwise, and with Lolli asking for me to stop by the shop in the next week so she could stitch me up a new Lolli-Original Mark II with’em. Well, who was I to argue.
We then met up with old Dwir’s friends Ethelex-a very zany bright fey and Keltigern a young dragon-who I practiced my dragonic on but only caught every few words they responded with. It seems some some peculiar rift has swallowed up a ‘once’ neighbouring village and mountain peak-The Serpent spine-great-trapping its inhabitants and Kelt’s mother inside…Oh, and it seems to have a strong aura of hunger about it too-Double great!
Well, I didn’t really understand the magical log-logist…The how-dos…Of rifts, but I agreed with the others if there was anything I could do to get this little guy back to his mother I would.
After all..Family and friends are all that really matter most right?
