To Calla,
I apologise for the delay in response to your letter. It seems your time with the adventuring community has gone about as well as any of the Scholar’s here would expect — trials and tribulations, tests of your patience and stamina, brushes with death that leave you questioning what in all the Cosmos you’re doing — only to leave you with more questions. I do hope to see your return to the Academy. This place is a haven but I do miss our shared perplexities at the way things are done. Your letter did not say where you were going, but I asked the Cartography Department and they mentioned your sojourn to the coast. Hopefully the warmer weather and the fresh sea air will revitalise you.
Speaking of tribulations, you mentioned the Wild Hunt. The timing could not be more ‘coincidental’ — I recently finished learning the Faen Tongue — as I heard shadowy hounds and wisps of wind attacked Port Ffirst, same as here! Is this true? Did you see them? Did you face them? If you did, what were your observations?
They were running rampant through the streets here. I did what I could to help defend those who needed it, assisting in getting the people to shelter. But that was not all that happened here. For a period of time the Town Hall had been an illusion! When it was revealed, the building looked like it went through Hell — and apparently so!
I hope, wherever you are Calla, you are safe. There is too much happening. Way more than I had ever heard before coming to these lands. It is almost overwhelming.
’Tis why I have been focusing on my studies and my work at the Stars and Night Sky Department. However, doing so means I am rather disconnected sometimes from our fellow adventurers. Were it not for the visits from my friends (or letters) I might not even know what is happening. But the pull is starting again. The Cosmos is calling, nudging me to move, and soon. Perhaps, when you return to Daring Heights we can speak about what I meant. And maybe on the other thing you mentioned. Calla, there are things you do not know and I am worried you have not been told the full picture. That is all I will say about it for now.
Until then, may your season of Summer be bright, warm, and happy… as much as it can be with all this uncertainty surrounding us.
Your friend,
Orianna
