Dear Merla,
I met G’Lorth the other day. It took me a minute to remember why this grung sounded so familiar. He made quite the entrance when we were all gathering in Portal Plaza. When was the last time you saw him? Was it around when the Vanguard were trying to overtake K’ul Goran?
Speaking of, apparently there are a lot of things happening over there. I haven’t been involved much myself but a friend of mine, Rae — the really talented bladesinger I’ve told you about before — was telling us all about it. Something about political unrest I believe. They had a general election over there recently that seems to be the result of some long standing tensions amongst its people. I know you and your friends of the day sacrificed a lot when Zariel was trying to bring the Blood War into our neck of the woods but it seems the grateful sentiment may be drying up.
But that’s not all. Lucky was telling us how in Kundar — that dragonborn and kobold metropolis in the desert — there have been whispers of anti-adventurer sentiments for months now. He told us of an escort job he did with a few people from Daring for a merchant family, the Prideborns, that went really bad. It’s always been balanced very carefully on the proverbial knife’s edge over there from what I understand, what with the two temples of Bahamut and Tiamat. But I wonder if things are going to come to a head? They got hit pretty badly when the Gith attacked last year.
What these two places, and the third I’m currently in, seem to have in common, is this symbol.
So, I was helping Fog with the important job of being an Ambassador to a… Well, I’m not entirely sure what kind of genasi most of these folk are. Rae is asking so many questions trying to figure it out. Let’s call it an elemental community. It’s slightly west and south of the Feythorn. Do you remember back in Eleint of last year, I wrote you a letter about a girl named Ziha? Well, I think Fog and Lucky have been trying to help not only Ziha and her sister Emzel, but also a group of folks known as the Revenants who were trying to stop someone that went by the name the White Moth.
It’s all very intricate and perhaps you could meet Lucky again and hear the whole tale from him one day. But, my point is, Ziha was ready to come back home. To Enlace. Along with her return, Fog brought some very important documents from Aurelia Archselon and the council of Daring Heights with us because this elemental community is now part of the Aegis Accords.
There are a bunch of reasons for this but essentially, Enlace has this beautiful (and powerful) crystal that is the hub of their whole community. It is also cracking with no idea how long it is going to last. Which you’d think is the most concerning bit, but it’s not.
See, one of the things this crystal can do is create portals to other places. I’m no scholar, but I’d bet that this could be why there are a lot of random portals to a lot of different places in these lands. It was just after the Keepers of the crystal signed the Accords that a portal opened and one of the women who had kept Ziha away from her family, Morena Vazroque, appeared… And she was wearing this.
This is the first time I’m seeing this but Fog, Lucky, and Rae all recognised it. Rae from K’ul Goran, Lucky from Kundar, and Fog on someone from the Feywild.
I didn’t know this because they didn’t know it was connected to anything else, but Fog told us that a fey by the name of Drusilia was the one wearing this silver pin. She allegedly has a horn too, but they don’t know what it does or what it’s connected to. But the fact that Morena and this Drusilia are wearing the same pin cannot be a coincidence, right?
Oh, Fog also mentioned another name, Jasper, a fox-like fey. Not sure if he’s an ally or just a third party trying to cause trouble. We don’t know much of anything it seems, how they’re all connected, but things like this always lead to something not good.
I know you’re very capable, Merla… And you have some really powerful magic, and even stronger alliances over there… But the last time we met you mentioned things are starting to happen and I…
Just, please, be careful. If you need help with anything, let me know. Okay?
I love you.
