Diplomatic dispatch from Ambassador Vellus in K'ul Goran:
"To the Council of Daring Heights,
the senate election has concluded and candidates for the progressive Purist faction have managed to clinch a razor thin majority of 1 seat in the 37 seat assembly. The coming weeks are likely to feature heavily in backroom skullduggery and jostling for advantage, favours and committee chairmanships in the lead-up to the vote deciding the senate leader. The conservative Optimates faction is unlikely to accept their defeat gracefully though, the post election speech by the nominal leader of the conservatives, Kyra Stuurm, being heavy on accusations of fraud and a pledge to contest the vote and assembly proceedings. More ominously still, the leader of the radical Behooved faction and wanted fugitive Antonia Warborn seems to have made common cause with the Optimates, and has herself left little doubt that she plans to unleash political violence to further their end. This is no idle threat, as Kantasian adventurers have previously uncovered weapons being smuggled by the Behooved, stolen or taken from navy stores, which have by now likely been distributed across the entirety of K'ul Goran. The potential for violence is high. I will keep a close eye on these developments and keep you briefed."
Seperately, a letter from the ambassador has found its way to Rae:
"Dear Rae,
You have made yourself instrumental in the recent diplomatic missions to K'ul Goran, so when I learned of your interest in making contact with Admiral Lyra Ironhide to uncover further information on these navy weapon crates found with the Behooved, I took the liberty to arrange a place for you and some of your closest (and one hopes, discreet) associates in the delegation accompanying Admiral Jarnos Saltborn of the Grey Zephyr Armada that guards Port Ffirst, to visit Za'Suul and conduct military-to-military consultations with the K'ul Goranian Admiralty Board. I trust you will make the most of this opportunity, but please be careful; you are treading in the coridors of power, and the Admiralty Board is not to be taken lightly or embarassed; a misstep here could have grave repercussions.
