Dear Father,
Lord Lucky Eyes of Sapphire sends his regards. You will be happy to know that I was able to help him here, in Daring Heights. Maybe my leaving was fortuitous after all.
I am afraid that I have been sworn to secrecy as to the reason my assistance was requested. What I may say is that our journey took us out of the Material Plane to the Para-Elemental Plane of Ooze. Yes, I was as excited as you expect.
Our journey took us deep into the Plane where we met with Lomadiah, a firbolg that has some history with Lucky and the task he had brought us on. Together, we arrived at an awful slime covered dragon. We were able to defeat it, thank Tymora, and free the dragon trapped within.
Unfortunately, it would seem that the dragon has forgotten who he is. Lomadiah and Lucky have committed themselves to helping him, and I have pledged my help in the future should they ever need it.
I hope I am making our House proud.
Henri
P.S. Father, if I may ask two burdens of you. First, please check in with Lady Flame Eyes of Sapphire. I am sure Lord Lucky would be grateful. And second, please visit Lord Zari's grave for me. A word of prayer would not go amiss.
Henri eyes the shard of slime crystal that sits atop his desk, his brow furrowed as the letter in front of him is dusted and neatly folded. The small light from the candle in front of him casts green shadows through the crystal that tint the envelope he withdraws from his satchel, and as he holds it open the letter gently rests itself inside.
A wax stamp is retrieved from the same satchel and pressed to create the seal, and the letter is safely stowed away for later mailing.
His notebook begins to peek out of his pocket, and with a hand he grabs it from the air, flicking it open to the back where a heading reads with a single name and date beneath it. The nib of his quill finds his tongue, and another line is added.
Lucky. 2 Alturiak 1500
With a snap the notebook is shut and returned to its pocket.
Lord Zari, a Steel Dragon... Henri thinks to himself, leaning back on two legs of the stool he writes from. And not a single memory left. Not of Lucky, nor of Lomadiah, nor any record in his scales of past vaultings. Nothing.
Henri rocks his head back and forth, stretching his neck as he raises his arms to the ceiling of his room at the Four Fair Winds.
At least I have my memories back.
The candle catches Henri's eye, the dancing light entrancing him.
Most of them, at least.
