Anåbæl makes the long journey back from Port Ffirst to Daring Heights. As she does show, she takes some satisfaction in now having thwarted three full boats of pirates in her career. Finishing off the second captain with her sister's harpoon was particularly satisfying! She also mulls over the small, but noticeable apparent improvement in Lord Algerone Barrington's attitude towards adventurers (if not yet to his servants, or the poorer members of society).
On arrival she immediately offers herself for Work in Samed's Smithy ... where her particulary strong arms are "almost snapped off" in their eagerness to accept.
Anåbæl pulls her weight - and then some (16+11+2=29!). On her shift at the bellows, the coals glow white-hot, allowing the forge-masters to make unusually rapid progress - while working a more challenging set of high-temperature alloys for a more technically complex order (from some particularly wealthy foreign customers, who wished to remain anonymous).
In the heat of the moment, she nearly pumps faster than the coal-stoker can keep up with, but notices just in time and eases of a little too compensate.
The smithy's new management have no hesitation in compensating her with 25 GP and enough money to cover a Comfortable lifestyle. As usual, she lives more modestly instead - donating the difference to some of the local charities that have captured her interest (mostly for anyone still homeless, and anyone vulnerable who was bereaved of their family in the Gith attacks).
