Hi,
I really like the DT rule that recognises how proficiency with languages helps with learning further languages.
"When learning a new language, the learning time is further reduced by 1 Taxing DTA slot if the learner already knows at least 4 languages."
(E.g., typically : Common +3)
Would the team consider extending this benefit for additional languages known in some way?
For example: a further reduction of 1 taxing slot for every 2 (or 3) additional languages known?
Potentially, this could be capped with some caveats like: "The total learning time may be reduced down to no less than 40% of its base duration (E.g. 4/6/8^ weeks depending on language category)."
^(8 for extra planar languages being theoretical / highly unlikely, as you'd need a +6 to INT, as well as enough languages to get a further +6 discount!)
In my particular case, I have Anåbæl in mind, who knows 7 official languages (and 1 narrative, which would be ignored). She has an INT modifier of 0, but she is an interested and accomplished linguist despite this (probably due to her months spent travelling, and by leveraging her Wisdom intuitively instead).
Currently, therefore, she can reduce the time to learn a language by 1 taxing slot. With amended rules, I am hoping that this might be increased to 2 slots, and potentially in time to 3 (it would take months of dedicated DT learning new languages to attain this).
Increasing INT would remain by far the "easiest" way for a PC to reduce language learning time, but this would make things just a little bit easier on low INT linguists like Ana, who feel driven to study regardless (a sentiment which is probably the most "Kantas" rationale I can provide!).
No rush on getting back to me - enjoy your holidays!

Hey James, thanks for the suggestion! We have several different updates to look into at the moment so it may take a while, but rest assured this has made its way onto the list of considerations and we have seen it.
