There is something about narrowly avoiding being impaled by a charging beast that can run through walls that really seems to get the blood pumping, thinks Anåbæl Two-Stœp to herself. Finally, she had overcome her anxiety over her new blade enough to le it lose during an adventure. What an adventure it had been as well! She would not soon forget meeting the others, with their interesting array of skills. She must look into one of the acolyte training programs for Clerics one day soon. Also the Phantom Rogue approach seemed more than a little interesting, and would open up all kinds of possibilities ... talking to the dead for example, like that interesting von Vald.
Having only just arrived in Daring Heights in time for the last adventure, time has really flown this week for Ana. She barely had time to unpack her things than the message came back from Samed's Smithy that they were snowed under and needed her help at the earliest opportunity.
On arrival at the smithy, Anna was surprised to see that the statement was in fact literal, as well as metaphorical. Some casters from the Academy had passed by during a drunken night out (according to some of the locals), and started a magical snowstorm in order to allow them to relive the snowballing antics from the Winter Fair.
With a few friendly words to the other workers that she recognised, she set to with a will - soon carving a path at four times the rate of the next fastest worker, even while sustaining a magical bonfire behind her for some of her colleagues to warm up and dry off during breaks. As soon as they had broken through to each of the main doors, Ana started splitting some additional logs in the log store, before heading inside to start pumping the bellows to get the furnaces up to temperature as quickly as possible to make up for good time.
Overall, she felt pleased with a good job done well (31!) ... a sentiment that was recognised by the new management of the forge, who were more than happy to pay out 25 GP, in addition to covering her comfortable lifestyle for the week. Enough to fill Ana with a warm glow. Although that could have been the mulled cider which had been doing the rounds during the last few hours of the final shift!
As usual, Anåbæl will live modestly and donate the difference for the local needy - hard to be homeless at this time of year.
