I've made a mistake. I've made several, in fact. When I heard about Mittens going to the Feywild I ran after him, because innocents like that get lost there (and never come back) all the time. Not on my watch. But let's review:
1. Being cut down by a Tortle is deeply unpleasant, and not an experience I'd like to repeat.
2. If I'm going somewhere new I need to restrict my notes to map making. The rest will wait until afterwards.
3. If I'm trying to look after someone I need to both pay more attention and look after myself first.
4. I really do need to craft some armour. Sooner, rather than later.
5. Nothing bad came of it, but I have to remember not to underestimate Kobolds.
6. Even if I know a language, local dialect remains a barrier. I've made notes but Sigil's patois is nigh impenetrable.
7. I really should have assumed that inter-house Drow politics would complicate things from the start. Clearly the Menat have some enemies.
8. I was very surprised to learn that Mittens has a temper. I guess you really can't always judge a book by its cover.
9. Most importantly, I've been watching Daring Depths for pursuers from home, but a simple tuning fork could bypass the rift entirely. I don't know what to do about that yet, but abjuration remains the right answer to a lot of questions.
10. My memory is a little fuzzy around the trip back to the Dawnlands. And I have an excellent memory. Maybe planar travel is something I need to be careful about?
On to the successes:
1. Sigil is incredible. I have to go back. There's a planar door in Aeschira- the key is an ornamental pineapple.
2. Feather fall is an essential for the Court of Clouds. Of all the Courts I've read about, that one seems the most friendly so far?
3. Princess Alathea is possibly an ally. Like me, she's an outlier. Someone who is more concerned with her craft than the court. She's also a giant, which provides some assurances about her behaviour, in addition to a smith, and a metallurgist. I've already asked her about help with mithril for the armour.
4. Aeschira's bell is fascinating. I couldn't even discern the purpose of it, but the current one seems either a) broken or b) over zealous in keeping outsiders, out. A perpetual cold spot in the city seems relevant?
5. That settlement's priestly contingent is equally interesting. Obviously Llolth has dominion, but both Shar and Ellistrae are present, as is the Red Knight. Aasimar are unusual in Drow cities, but relatively common there? If I can bypass the tinnitus it seems worth a repeat visit. Not least of all as a place to hide in plain sight.
6. I've acquired a candle that can burn underwater. That's impressive protection magic, and warrants further study.
