[DTA 11/12/22] Dark Clouds over Amble Brockskin

A heavy cloud hangs over Amble Brockskin - something that his brief, unobtrusive and underwhelming visit to New Hillborrow's Winter Fair did little to change.
He remained pole-axed by Daring Academy's unfounded charges of gross misconduct from the week before. As if that wasn't odd enough, it was accompanied with a reasonably sized payment for his Work (to keep him quiet, perhaps?) ... events which followed on so soon after the Academy refusing to pay him at all for one of his best ever week's Work "due to internal financial difficulties" ... all of which followed on directly after the successful raid on Loviatar's captured souls in the Lower Realm of Banehold, by the River Styx.
In a slight boost to Amble's spirits, the other adventurers at the fair seemed largely sympathetic to Amble's plight, and as supportive as they could be, without alienating themselves entirely from the Academy also. Glint even suggested that Amble copy a few spells to help take his mind of things (which the gnome took him up on most gratefully).
Having had enough of Daring Heights for the time being, Amble decided to stop in at FE, offering to do a light slot of Work, helping out in the library - going back to his forest gnome roots and curating their Natural Sciences sections on flora and fauna. His Work went well (17) (and pleasantly uneventfully!), covering comfortable bed and board for himself (with only a small additional pay for Stiffy's keep, as usual).
