The following report is written in a mix of common, symbols, elvish, and draconic, kept secured in an Infernal Puzzle Box until such a time as the agent who wrote it can deliver it safely into a trusted Hand of the Temple of Night.
ASSIGNMENT REPORT #37
People/Organisations of Note:
Kavel ‘Smashy Hands’ Castiron – berserker, goliath, male
Ivan Erikson – berserker, human, male
Varga – fighter/berserker, half-orc, female
Sergeant Derthaad – mage (clockwork soul; Mechanus), detective of Daring City Watch, blue dragonborn, male
Cornelius Rhogar – First Priest of Bahamut, dragonborn (silver), male
Tyraxes Wraithborn – Priest of Tiamat, kobold (black), male
Desathrax, Lord/God of Dark Radiance – demi-god, dragon, combination of the avatars of Bahamut and Tiamat (deceased, maybe)
Locations & Organisations:
Daring Heights – Dawnlands city
Kundar – Desert metropolis
Sunset Spines – Mountain range west of the Dawnlands
Desathrax’s Lair – tallest mountain in the north side of the Sunset Spines
Body:
I first heard about yet another supposed God, this one calling themselves the Lord of the Dark Radiance, from Pipper, who had heard it from other adventurers who had been more involved from the first stirrings of this plot. Vandree seemed to know about it before me, much to my chagrin, which only made me more determined to be part of the group sent to kill yet another would be god.
Met up with Castiron, Erikson and Varga in Daring Heights, wherein we teleported to the desert metropolis, gathering our final member, Sergeant Derthaad. Not my first mission with a member of the Daring Heights city watch on the team but certainly my first time with this particular one. He seemed to know the most out of all of us what was going on, mentioned a young scholar who had been to this thing’s lair, grabbed a rock, before booking it out of there. At the time I was surprised she and the others were still alive, if this thread was to be as serious as the Sergeant claimed. So I chose to listen more than speak (NB: Not my favourite way to gather intel but certainly the better option when dealing with those who follow ‘The Law’). Rhogar and Wraithborn added more details when we all gathered together. They are summarised below:
Not a second after our arrival Desathrax knew we were there. After that, there was nothing much to it except to get the deed done.
Perhaps it was my new body, or maybe it was the thrill of finally being able to do what I do best, but though my allies were giving their all in the fight, some even getting hurt to the point of collapse, I was just dancing. It was thrilling.
I really have missed doing this.
After we slew the demi-god we were greeted by the Platinum Lord himself, waiting outside the caves, surrounded by seven golden canaries. A bold move to just show up after everything was said and done, in my opinion, all because Tiamat and him couldn’t pick up after themselves. If they had, this whole mess wouldn’t have happened in the first place. But, as Daybreaker would say, wouldn’t be the first time a god got lazy and fucked off without dealing with the mess they themselves created. (NB: At least Tiamat’s got a legit excuse of being bound to the First layer of the Hells and unable to leave there. I don’t know what Bahamut’s excuse is though. Too busy shining his platinum scales perhaps.)
He still bestowed upon me a giant platinum tattoo on my back. (NB: Oziah’s going to be thrilled about that.)

So I chose to listen more than speak (NB: Not my favourite way to gather intel but certainly the better option when dealing with those who follow ‘The Law’). Rhogar and Wraithborn added more details when we all gathered together. They are summarised below:
- The undead are resistant to Radiant, Fire, Cold and Lightning damage → a result of the union between the discarded avatars of Tiamat and Bahamut that Desathrax found/used to make a physical form
- Desathrax was theorise to be immune to those types of elemental damages, and it was proven correct upon facing off against them
- There are certain metals that weakened Desathrax → tin, lead, iron
- Clerics, priest, acolytes and paladins of both temples have been lured away with visions from Desathrax, being lured away to become part of their undead army
- Desathrax had a “champion” that went by the name Steppenwolf → we did not fight him as he was contained in a trap elsewhere in the desert
- Both the undead army, formed of humanoids and dragons, all touched/blessed by Tiamat or Bahamut in some way, were held trapped under a dome → this meant we only had to deal with Desathrax and not their army as well
- The lair we were headed to was located in the northernmost section of the Sunset Spines
