"To the Council of Daring Heights,
as you are aware, the election season for K'ul Goran's senate is in full swing, with the election now only weeks away. A new complication has emerged: the K'ul-Goranian High Court has agreed to hear the case of Cleovera and Antonia Warborn - the late Admiral's (a known traitor) wife and daughter. They have been denounced as Vanguard collaborators by their son and sibling Marius, the leader of the Purist reform faction. By all accounts, the evidence is sparse, but lower courts have ruled against them, largely on the witness testimony of senator Marius. The final instance of appeal will likely set the scene for tumultous proceedings, with supporters of the conservative Optimates faction hotly advocating to overturn previous convictions. The public mood is already running hot, following the funeral of the late senate leader Earthhardle and the news that reactionary elements may have been involved in his death. All eyes will be on Chief Justice Letitia Blackhoof. I intend to observe the trial, but would request a group of adventurers to escort me. I dont want to overstate the danger, but I fear that demonstrators outside the court house may clash - the situation is highly volatile.
