Another wax-sealed letter is dropped off at the door of the abandoned townhouse in New Town, this time — instead of the usual postman — by a hooded figure who moved quickly and soundlessly. The contents in Infernal reads as follows:
Father,
We have slaughter’d an entire lair of demons north of the fort. Those rancid fiends were all kill’d by our hand or by a fellow demon — wild and belligerent savages that they are. Brave and true companions I had at my side: Ruthenia Truelove, Lucia, and Voxovan Inzabash.
Voxovan is a child of the Hells too. She has a fraught relationship with her father, a general of Glasya’s. I plan to help her assassinate him so I can claim his army. The incubus will help us.
This was a true test of my strength, Father. I nearly fell many times but in the end, I prevail’d. The hour of AWAKENING is within reach.
