Daring Heights - Graveside - Raven Queen’s Shrine
Iqpi, the little couatl used mind talking magic to summon a bunch of us adventurers to meet them and Sardaq, (the thicc-looking paladin) by the Raven Queen’s Shrine in Graveside.
It was late afternoon, the streets were bustling with people. Glade, my Earth-Genasi, nature magic friend turned up at the shrine first with me. I asked how the research went. She said The Pain With No Name (TPWNN) had grown, and the city was in trouble. It seemed to me that TPWNN needed smashing more than ever now.
Amble, our gnome enchanter arrived shortly after us, riding Stiffy, his mastiff. Sardaq and an invisible Iqpi arrived next. They informed us we would be expecting Toothy and Zola, our Drow, and Half-Drow thicc-boi and dual-wielding friends. The update meant we would be waiting a while, so Glade and Amble filled me in on all the research, until the drows arrived.
All together, we entered the shrine and found an alcove for privacy. Iqpi and Sardaq explained that they have been tailing the Loviatan members to try and find TPWNN’s lair. However, despite the use of invisibility magic, they were not able to successfully follow the cult members back to TPWNN’s lair. The pair of them looked exhausted - Iqpi was far less energetic than they normally are.
Lady Miller’s… I mean Toothy’s fit mum’s two employees wanted to try tailing the Loviatan members with us, so there were more trackers on several members, increasing the chances of following someone back to the TPWNN’s lair.
Iqpi reiterated some facts about TPWNN that had come to light; TPWNN will make us forget we saw it with the use of a song. TPWNN had grown very powerful, its paws were all over the city now. If you don’t hear TPWNN’s song, it knows you haven’t forgotten it, and will attack. TPWNN has multiple faces. Sardaq cut off one of the heads once, but it didn’t seem particularly hurt - this is why we had to get to the source, it is assumed we can kill TPWNN in its lair.
This was quite a challenge to find TPWNN and remember we found it. As Glade put it, “how do we find a tree without looking at the branches?” Iqpi’s response though, “look at the birds.” Hence why we would follow the Loviatan worshippers from the Graveside meeting house, because they could lead us back to the lair. Iqpi mentioned that at the lair, they expected to see ceremonies of people being fed to TPWNN to increase its power.
It was agreed that Iqpi and Sardaq would follow some newer recruits, who would be less familiar with them. Zola, Toothy and Glade would follow Delphina (the Nira girl’s mum) and Amble (and Stiffy, and Owl) and I would follow an elderly woman called Aleisha.
I had forgotten enough already being involved in this Loviatar/TPWNN business. I do not remember the girl called Nira. I do not remember why I visited the professor’s office in Daring Academy. I do not remember pulverising Goran Voss back to the plane he hails from. I hate not remembering things. I was not keen to forget anymore things, and ultimately, I wanted my memories back. I would be on guard for the creeping presence of TPWNN and the song that accompanies it…
Back to the Graveside Meeting House
On the way there, I remember thinking, “strange they still meet there after me and Toothy whooped Goran Voss’s arse.”
Once we got to the house …

Catch Up to Comrade Amble and Stiffy
I was running with my flight-legs and remember landing next to comrade Amble riding his mastiff, Stiffy.
“Kavel?” My gnome friend enquired with much confusion visible on his face. I imagined my own face equally displayed naked confusion - I didn’t know why I was running?
“.. we must be on an adventure, comrade… I remember walking to the Graveside house.”
“Argh!” My gnome friend shouted in pain. He had just become conscious of a piercing bite wound on his leg. He casted a spell called False Life to heal himself a little, and observed, “The Pain With No Name! It must have attacked us, and we fell victim to the song, and now can’t remember it.” I felt my intelligent comrade was right.
“Over there, Amble, look.” And I pointed to a building some 50ft behind us, nearer to the centre of town. The building had a Kavel sized imprint in the stonework. “Something smashed me into that wall.”
“Turn around, Kavel.” I obliged, and Amble wiped off the debris stuck to my back that I didn’t notice. There was some on my front too - I wiped that off.
We both remembered we started an adventure that day with some others. I suggested Amble make his familiar, the one he calls Owl, appear and scout around in the skies for the others. Amble tried, but then came to the realisation that Owl must have been killed, since he could not summon him. Amble then used the Detect Thoughts spell, but could not detect a hidden presence. No memories, no clue what we had achieved, if anything.
We ventured back to the Raven Queen’s shrine, hoping we would meet our comrades, and that they would be able to offer us insight.
Back to the Raven Queen’s Shrine
Iqpi and Sardaq were there. They looked dejected. Amble and I told them about our lack of memories. It was a disappointment all around, until the others came back.
Glade, Toothy and Zola returned from Casteside with Delphina. Delphina looked catatonic, but alive, which apparently she wouldn’t have been if they didn’t save her from being a sacrifice to TPWNN. It seems they found the lair, and it appears to be below the well of the kobold and goblin community outside the city. This was the place where I recently smashed some evil spud-like creatures and neothelids with comrades; Glade, Felix, Tayz and Levuka. Levuka found the Sending Stones there, which she traded with me.
Sardaq suggested we harbour Delphina at Miller Mansion (Toothy’s fit mum’s house) for her safety. He also rewarded us with 150gp each. I like to feel that Amble and I earned our share by keeping Aleisha and TTPWNN occupied…
I asked the others if they could research preventing memory loss when hearing that song? I would quite happily throw two thirds of the money I earned straight back into the problem
There were two magical rewards as well. One of them was a magical robe that could disguise you as a regular human around 6’ tall. It was suggested that it could be good for me as a disguise. But, I made the point, “why would I want to be less than 7’4” tall? Kavel is Kavel.” No. I only shrink my height in the Damphentie Tangle for Nathalie.
