Toothy, Velania Kalugina, and 2 more like this

Toothy’s Mum’s House
I got to see Toothy’s mum again, Lady Jeziah Miller. She is very beautiful. Oh, a few of my comrades were there too.
The adventuring party consisted of comrades who had been looking into the missing girl called Nira and the Loviatan cult. I have donated 300gp to research on the matter. I did not do the actual research though, that’s Amble and Glade work. Speaking of which, both my gnome enchanter friend and earth-genasi druid friend were sat in Toothy’s mum’s reception room with me. So too was Toothy himself, my drow brother from a fit drow mother. Comrade Velania, my angel-like cleric friend was there as well.
While we waited for the enchanting Lady Miller to arrive, I gave Glade another 100gp for research. Amble did well last time. Now it was Glade’s turn to benefit from the missing professor’s grant money, and my supplementation.
Glade had a locket with an image of the girl, Nira’s face inside. I have to be told that I have met this girl. I do not remember her, which is part of the Loviatan mystery. It’s very strange. I remember things connected to the girl, but not the girl herself. But, if not for my comrades who do remember her, I wouldn’t know that I’ve lost selected memories. This is really annoying for me. I’ve intentionally sacrificed memories - when I gave up my Polearm Mastery memories to help a friend. But in that case, at least I remember giving up the memory, and still have the memories of when I used my old poleaxe - I just can’t use a poleaxe as well as I used to anymore, as if the muscle memory was removed, which it was.
I commented to Toothy on what a thicc-boi Victor, Lady Miller’s goliath butler was. The man must have one hell of a strength routine, I’m sure of it.
Amble led us in a notes exchange, to make sure everyone was up to speed on the latest research and what we knew of the girl Nira. Velania who was new to all this was most appreciative.
Toothy’s (Fit) Mum
I don’t know how old Lady Miller is, but she looks wonderful for her age. Sardaq entered behind Lady Jeziah, and he was no longer a huge plant monster. Apparently he died and his paladin god felt he had been sufficiently punished enough, and rewarded Sardaq with his old humanoid body again. Iqpi, the child serpent snake was with him. Iqpi came and greeted us with tail high-fives. I got a chest bump. Stiffy, Amble’s mastiff, got a nuzzle.
Lady Miller explained she wanted to put an end to the problems that have been going on. This all started with a man she hired who had an idea to help the widows of Port Ffirst feel better. This was Goran Voss, the genasi I met in the Kobold-Goblin community who was there with Delphine - who happens to be Nira’s mother, but she doesn’t remember this, nor does she remember having a husband. Goran Voss, it was said, had a magical item that was responsible for all this memory loss. It was up to us to interrogate him and find the item. Sardaq, and Iqpi would accompany us. We were to go to a renovated house (that Amble helped renovate) in Graveside, which was being used as a meeting space for the Port Ffirst renovation team. I told Lady Miller that we would get the job done - I felt it necessary to be heard by Lady Miller and show her that I am useful to her.
Velania asked Lady Miller if she had seen the item behind all the trouble. She said she felt she had, but cannot remember, suggesting she too has been affected by this tricky memory loss problem. Velania sagely suggested she could try her Greater Restoration spell, but we had to unfortunately inform her that comrade Tayz tried that to no success.
Outside the Graveside House
Toothy noted that there was a magpie nest on the building’s roof. Glade noticed the eyes of a magpie were blue, like some of the birds in the Feythorn Forest near the Loivatan hideout. It seems Liira was watching us again. Amble’s familiar owl observed there were people inside. The magic users casted protective spells as precaution. Smart. Glade did druid magic to turn into a squirrel and sit on Toothy’s shoulder, and I introduced Toothy to the concept of a thicc-boi knock for opening doors. It turns out fellow thicc-boi Varga has a penchant for smashing doors open too. I suggested Toothy should get in on it too, since I am fond of unhinging doors, even metal safe doors. However, we decided on a diplomatic, regular knock for this door.
Inside the House...?
… I forgot everything.
My memory is now a bit hazy ever since leaving Lady Miller’s house. I’m surprised I remembered the walk to the Graveside house.
Goran Voss…?
… I don’t remember going in the house, up the stairs and meeting Goran Voss. No.
Fight…?
… No. Don’t remember.
Post Fight…?
Yeah, I remember being in the upstairs room and seeing my comrades. A few of them were being magically healed by Velania and Glade, including both Velania and Glade themselves. They seemed to have taken quite a beating - lots of scorch and burn marks. I looked hurt, but okay. For a second I thought I may have passed out drunk, but I had no hangover. Goran Voss was dead on the floor beside me. I could see evidence of Toothy’s glaive strikes. Very nice. Oh! And clear evidence of my fists! I can’t remember it, but good stuff.
With the help of my comrades, let me backup a bit…
The People Inside and an Upstairs Fight
My comrades told me about the chanting they could hear before we entered. The people inside were poor, manual labourers with black grooves in their face where they had been crying, or at least that’s what it seemed like. Some of the people were wearing veils, and they all looked grief stricken and apathetic. They pointed us towards Goran Voss, who was upstairs.
There was no productive conversation with these poor people. They had no memory about why they were sad; their husbands died in the githyanki invasion in Port Ffirst. Sardaq expended a good portion of his magical reserves to break whatever spell tied them to the building. They all left.
I was told there was muttering from upstairs. Inside the upstairs room was Goran Voss. Toothy started interrogating him. When this was proving unproductive, Glade used the spell Charm Monster. Goran Voss then mentioned that the item we were looking for was never an item, but a pet. Loviatar’s pet. Apparently Toothy has met her, but doesn’t remember. Toothy has memory problems going back much further than the Nira business, it seems.
Goran Voss himself actually can’t remember where to find the pet. Like us he seems to forget things. He's also an annoying, smug, provocative cult prick, even under the Charm Monster spell’s control.
I’m told the floor started to warm up as if lava was appearing below us. Apparently I entered the room already battle-breathing, so the pain didn’t affect me as much. It is very reassuring to learn retrospectively how cautious and smart I am.
Sardaq then approached Goran Voss and cleared some charcoal away from his scalp revealing nine piercing wounds on his scalp. I apparently went exploring around the room, while Glade and Toothy found another Loviatar symbol to deface, like in the Feythorn Forest - and it was this that ended the Charm Monster spell and provoked combat…
Upstairs Bash
So the dead Goran Voss that I saw actually enlarged to the size of an earth elemental, when the fight commenced and summoned three medium-sized versions of himself from the Banehold to join him. As I’ve hinted at earlier, Toothy slashed Goran up real good. Apparently Toothy even knocked Goran down, which I took advantage of, as I mounted Goran and pommelled the living shit out of him with my stonehand punches, until he died. Thanks to Toothy’s knockdown, I’m told me and him looked like a pack of wolves ripping chunks out of their prey. It turns out I punched an open gash that Toothy opened up so hard that the gash split open wider and Goran bled out, and that’s how he died. I then discovered that he’s one of those people that don’t die unless killed on their own plane. He was apparently happy with ‘dying’. Me and Toothy seemed to have taken lots of fire damage from an unseen attack Goran was hitting us with in retaliation. A minor concern, at the moment.
Velania, on top of unloading a massive amount of healing magic to our injured party, casted the Spirit Guardians spell, which I have never seen her do before, and now because of the memory loss, it’s like I still haven’t!
Glade and Amble, I’m told, took control of a pair of the knock-off Goran’s with their magic, which is powerful stuff. One of the knock-offs who I had man-handled around was grovelling to me, as I pummelled his master. Glade I’m told took a real beating that fight, but valiantly maintained her concentration on the Bless spell that a number of us were benefiting from. She’s a good comrade.
I’m also told that Sardaq is handy with a glaive and Iqpi can cast the Greater invisibility spell, which Amble received the benefit of. I understand that outside of me, Amble took the least amount of fire damage. Although, I still took an immense amount, but am told it looked like my super conditioned body was not as affected by the fire. This all seems highly likely.
Post Bash
Glade and Toothy smiled at the retelling. They said I asked them if they wanted to carry on defacing the symbol of Loviatar now that the fight was over. But, it turned out they were ahead of me and had already done it.
Amble found a map. A few of us heard humming at the window. Glade caught something out the window and went to follow, but couldn’t find anything. Dead Goran left a Willing Whip, which Amble identified with his magic.
Iqpi apparently caught a good glimpse of the thing Glade barely noticed. It seems the black tendrilled creature outside the window is the pet. This pet wanted to come in and hurt us.
I then asked a question about if we were closer to finding the answers we needed, and then it was clear to everyone and myself that I had forgotten quite a bit of the day…
Debrief
Lady Miller paid us 150gp each for our work. We were told Sardaq and Iqpi would then go track down the people who left the Graveside building earlier, since they might be able to find the ‘Pain with No Name’ pet creature.
The party went to a cafe before seeing Lady Miller to compare notes and check what we all remembered, and fill me in on what I’d just forgotten. It is most annoying to have one's memories removed without consent!
At the cafe, it was after a second round of drinks that Glade discovered she was still concentrating on the Bless spell. No one, not even the magic-users in the party could understand how she had managed it. It was even a surprise to Glade herself that the spell was still active.
Back Home
Toothy came back with me. Not to train the thicc-boi knock. No. I told him I have a pet tamarin, Timur. So, Toothy wanted to come round and meet him. Toothy sure does like animals. He also has a fit mum.
