Another wax-sealed letter is dropped in front of the door of a seemingly empty townhouse in New Town.
Greetings, Father,
A plot most strange is unfolding in Kundar and Daring Heights. A human woman and a devil-born woman in Kundar are collecting shards of elemental power. For what purpose I do not yet know.
These shards contain great arcane energy that affect even those who are near it. Twice now I have been “touch’d” by this elemental power. The first time, it disturb’d my sleep, gave me an unpleasant buzzing under my skin, and made my strikes stronger whilst straining my muscles at the same time. The second time, it replaced my dreams of the Blood War with visions of fire, embers, and dry earth and produced a buzz in my body too, though I find this instance more comfortable than the previous.
A loose organisation of people alleges that the gathering of these shards would lead to catastrophe. They call themselves “Hands” or “Revenants”. Twice now I have met these people, once in Kundar and once in Daring. They shroud their motives and identities in secrecy. They are mark’d in uniform by a peculiar hat and a metal gauntlet on one hand. One or more may be undead.
I wonder if these shards are more powerful than even a bag of soul coins. If they could be used to power our machines. If they could help turn the tide of blood in our favour. There is much to think on.
However, it remains the case that the Vazroques of Kundar have a head start on the collection of these shards. As I am writing this letter, a representative of the Vazroques awaits our return from a job she hired us to do — to steal one of these shards — and that we never completed.
A Revenant has taken the shard and its rightful owner away to safety. She warn’d us to not attempt to get payment from the Vazroques lest we be killed.
I have no choice now but to bide my time.
Glory to the Fallen One.
